Just a few alcoholic beverages contain a surprising amount of calories; not to mention the fact that they only serve to increase the appetite of most people. Choose a light bear, wine spritzer or carbonated flavored water instead.
When it’s your turn to prepare the mound of requisite holiday food, remember that there are several tricks you can employ in order to stay true to your diet goals and keep family and friends pleased at the same time. One way to do this is by substituting evaporated skim milk for regular milk or cream in your holiday recipes. This will help to tremendously cut down on the amount of fat and calories included in your dishes without sacrificing taste. Unsweetened applesauce makes a great substitute for calorie laden oil while egg substitute can easily replace the requirement for eggs in most recipes without any noticeable change to the taste.
Finally, one of the best ways that you can avoid overindulging this holiday season is to take it slow and easy. Remember that the entire point of this time of year is to get together with friends and family members; many of which you might not see for months to come. Focus on the fun and conversation instead of rushing through a heavy meal and you’ll find that not only did you enjoy this year more, but that you made it through with your diet intact.

You deserve everything that is wonderful! Do you know how extraordinary you are?
Let’s spend a few moments writing about you and defining the relationship you desire with yourself.
Part of what you have the ability to control with your mind is metabolism. Metabolism refers to how quickly your body uses its fuel sources (food) and how much will be stored. By increasing metabolism you can speed up weight loss and maintain it. Hypnosis has the ability to let you change your metabolism.
Let me give you an example that I use for myself:
I am spiritually minded
I am financially responsible to me [the family.]
I am free to be me.
I respect myself.
I exercise each day.
I meditate each day.
I express gratitude each day.
I laugh…..wet your pants laughter….each day.
I use affirmations each day.
I use RET and EFT each day.
I have tons of fun.
I eat nutritious food each day.
I take fun vacations.
I play each day.
I shake my booty…..WAHOO!
I forgive myself and others.
I do deserve everything that is wonderful.
I say I’m sorry and make it right with others when I’m disconnected from God.
Now you write down the relationship you have with yourself. Remember to express as if it is already occurring. Act as if. You can use some or all of what I wrote or create your own. Remember love is a verb so when you say you love yourself, what action steps do you take to show that you indeed love yourself. What do you do each day for yourself?
Believing and receiving what you deserve is still the #1 issue that my clients all have at their core. When you have “I don’t deserve” at your core, you will sabotage things that are wonderful that come into your life. Sabotage is very powerful and you don’t even recognize that’s what you’re doing. It becomes such a pattern of behavior that is difficult to change.

Most of us are "regular" people. We don't eat the perfect diet all the time and have our struggles with food, same as everyone else. But having an awareness of this fact and knowing a little bit about our health and food nutrition can help when it comes to making wise decisions.
Many people struggle with food "cravings." Studies tell us that it's fairly common for food cravings to happen at certain times, quite often at around bedtime. Your guard may be down, you may have had an unusually hard day, and off you go on your not-so-merry way to find that tasty treat. Fatigue and stress often combine to take their toll on the best of intentions.
When food cravings are unconstrained, what starts out as a bedtime snack quickly turns into a full blown feeding frenzy...not something most of us fully understand or appreciate. We head to kitchen and every other place where food can hide, clearing a path as we go.
Most food cravings are not about satisfying a nutritional need or imbalance. They seem to be more emotionally related, or God forbid, are caused by plain old gluttony. Exactly why we over-indulge is not completely understood, however our knowledge about this subject continues to grow.
Listed below are some thoughts and ideas about food cravings:
- If the food isn't available, you can't eat it! Empty the cookie jar and keep it that way! Keep healthy food choices on-hand.
- Recognize the feelings and emotions that lead-up to a food craving. Do you have food cravings when you’re bored, lonely, or stressed? If you can identify a trigger, you can deal with the emotion that’s making you desire a certain food. Try to deal with the triggers in the best way you can.
- Sometimes, even recognizing that a craving is about to happen doesn't seem to help. Don't beat yourself-up. There is always tomorrow. Call a friend, make good use of your support network and share your feelings with someone.
- Get enough sleep. When you’re tired, you’re more likely to crave things.
- Never give-up. When you "slip", press-in, bear-down, get a grip, do whatever is necessary to re-gain control. Try to practice restraint most of the time, but don't get legalistic and un-balanced in your weight loss approach. Think moderation and not abstinence at all times!
- Understand that self-control and discipline by themselves, won't cut it! If you depend totally on yourself for control, you will fail. Forming caring and supportive relationships is required. If you do not currently have a support network, start building one TODAY.
- Exercise. It increases feel-good endorphins that cut down on your cravings. Try to get at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day.
- Use moderation. Instead of stuffing yourself with every kind of food hoping that your craving will go away, eat 100 to 200 calories of your "craved" food.
- Substitute with low-fat foods and complex carbs. If you’re hungry for chocolate, eat non-fat chocolate yogurt. Try fig bars or raisins for a sweet craving.
- Never skip a meal. Eat every three to five hours. Try six smaller meals or regular meals with nutritious snacks.
- Understand that hunger craving are oftentimes stress related. Practice other ways to treat chronic stress – a walk in the park, spiritual connections, a cozy fireplace, baths...all these stimulate neurochemicals that activate regions of the brain that stimulate pleasure. Relaxation techniques may work by reducing the psychological drives on stress output, which can be the root causes of stress. Bottom line, substitute pleasurable experiences for comfort foods.
- Beware of certain medications. They can stimulate appetite. Drugs used for the treatment of depression and bipolar disorder can be appetite stimulants. Other drugs, both prescription and over the counter, may influence appetite as well. If you are on a medication, and troubled by food cravings, discuss this with your doctor or pharmacist. You may be able to find an alternative that doesn't send your cravings out of control.
- Distract Yourself. What's that old expression...idle hands are the devils workshop? Get busy. Do anything other than cave-in to your desire for food, and keep doing it until the cravings subside.
- One final thought, take a look inside your refrigerator and kitchen cabinets and do some general "house cleaning." Throw-out all that unhealthy stuff that is waiting to sabotage your diet, and start shopping more wisely. A little forethought and careful planning will go a long way for improving your chances of success.

Winning Your Weight Loss War For A Lifetime
Are you fighting the uphill battle of weight loss?

There are so many weight loss diets and plans out there that it's growing increasingly harder to decide what actually works and what isn't even worth wasting your time on. You've gotta know that all of these "miracle" weight loss diets and plans are not what they claim to be, simply because if they all did exactly what they promised to, there wouldn't be a single obese or overweight person left on earth!
The reason so many useless weight loss diets and plans are still around is because most of the useless ones promise INSTANT weight loss.
Now, tell me who is going to pass up at least trying something like that?
Us humans can be mighty lazy at times and wanting everything to be instantaneous is one of our chief bad habits. We want our meals prepared instantly at restaurants, we demand web pages to load instantly or we'll just close them, and we also desperately want instant weight loss. You suspect in the back of your mind of course, that this is impossible, but still you can't help being sucked in by those oh so tempting promises of instant gratification.
Now you might be thinking, will not my body do that even if I am working out?
Think about this for a second, say you consume 3000 calories a day and your body burns 2200 with your everyday activities, if you suddenly cut those calories to below 2200 and do not start any weight loss exercise program then your body simply resorts to a fasting state and tries to protect your body from starvation. Now you will loose fat, however your body will also loose muscle as it tries to fill in those calories that you are not taking in… and worse of all you will feel hungry, lethargic and miserable. Your mouth will be drooling for food and you will feel like crap.
"Maybe this one will be different." You tell yourself "It has to be."
But the honest, and yes painful, truth is that weight loss is NEVER instantaneous. You can't just pop some magic pill, go to sleep, and wake up 50 pounds slimmer.
YOUR BODY DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY!
Once your body has stored a certain amount of fat, it's going to want to hold on to it (for dear life it sometimes seems).
What you need to do is force your body to be more willing to burn up that fat, by revving up your metabolism. You also need to make sure you're doing all the right things to accomplish this revving up. There are too many ways to rev your metabolism for me to go into them all here, but I'll give you a short list of some TRULY KEY things you can do to rev your metabolism until it's roaring along like the ocean surf.
1. Do NOT Skip Meals.
Never, never, never skip a meal if you truly want to rev up your metabolism. If your body thinks you are starving it will actually slow your metabolism down (causing you to burn fat much slower) in an attempt to "keep you alive." Maybe you don't always have time for meals. Okay, I understand that. Just grab something easy, but nutritious and filling in place of a meal (nuts, fresh fruits & veggies can be quick fixes when you're on the go).
2. Live A Spicier Life
Eating spicy foods can dramatically speed up your metabolism. Try making a jalapeno salsa that you can use on sandwiches or salads. Chopped jalapenos also make a great addition to almost any meat, egg or vegetable dish.
3. Enjoy The Air And Your Favorite Game
Breathing deeply while exercising is also very important for giving your metabolism that extra little "push" it needs. You should do some form of exercise every day, for at least 20 minutes that will cause you to breathe deeply, get your heart racing, and make you break a sweat. This doesn't have to be painful, do something you already love. Play your favorite "game" or sport. Go biking, skating, swimming, etc. The possibilities are really endless. Exercise doesn't need to be boring, what it needs to be is something you truly love doing and will be sure to find the time for at least 5 days out of every week. Something you'll actually LOOK FORWARD TO. Do yourself a favor, get your metabolism raring so that you can stop worrying about your weight and start enjoying life.

I realize this sounds like a broken record, but if you want to loose weight and keep it off then you need weight loss exercise as part of your routine! Whether you think “but I don't want to exercise, I hate exercise, I don't need to exercise”... or whatever other excuse you might have, the fact is weight loss exercise is the key to success.
The bottom line is you can join whatever fad diet you want.. if you do not start a weight loss exercise routine then your chances of successful weight loss will be dropped dramatically. Sure you will loose some weight, after all that is achieved simply by consuming less calories then your body requires to function. The problem is simply starving your body causes it to go into a fasting state. This is a defensive move that your body takes to help you survive, what happens is your metabolism slows down which in turn gives you a felling a fatigue plus it tries to store up extra fat reserves. This is why weight loss exercise is so important!
Ok so what does weight loss exercise have to do with this?
Exercise causes your body to burn calories; it also increases your energy levels. So instead of starving yourself thin, keep eating the same amount of calories you are currently eating and instead increase your calorie burning to overtake your consuming. Now that might sound hypocritical because would you not still be starving yourself. Simply no… your muscles will be getting worked, your heart will be pumping and your body will become an efficient calorie burning machine. Once you start exercising you will find that you will want to start eating healthier and you will start eating foods that are not empty calories… that is foods with high calories and fill the gap for only short periods of time.
However, this is not a completely true statement… the reason is because everyone is different. So if you start an exercise routine and still feel you are ravenous for junk food, then intervention is needed. For some this could be as simple as taking a fiber supplement that expands and fills the gap others might try different appetite suppressants that fool the body into not feeling hungry. The point is, start a weight loss exercise program and listen to your body. If supplements are needed in conjunction with a weight loss exercise routine, then try them, but please don't try just starving yourself thin.
