The first thing you have to understand about pregnancy, is that the baby comes first. That's a "Survival Issue". Once you get pregnant, everything is geared for the survival and health of the baby. If it wasn't that way, we would not have survived as a Species!

What does the Baby Need?
In order to grow properly and be born healthy the baby is going to need lots of Nutrients, Vitamins, Minerals, Enzymes, etc... If you provide these nutrients in order to grow a Healthy Baby, no problems, but if you don't...

The baby will take what it needs from the mother's body, and if that happens, you're going to have "Two Problems":
1.You're going to be hungry all the time if you don't provide the baby with what Nutrients it needs, so you're going to overeat and have much more weight gain during pregnancy than you need to. 2.The baby is going to extract whatever Nutrients it can from your body, which is going to do a real number on your metabolism.

Now you have Two Problems!
First of all, you're going to have excessive weight gain during pregnancy, which means that instead of gaining the normal 25 to 30 Lbs, you could gain up to 50 Lbs or more, and...

The extra weight, is weight which will be very hard to get rid of after pregnancy, because...
Secondly, your body has been drained of stored nutrients, which means that now, you probably have a slow metabolism, so instead of easily losing the weight after pregnancy...

The answer is very simple!
Just eat only healthy food so that you provide all the nutrients which your baby needs and you'll have no problems. You need to have good variety in your diet, and just get the healthiest food that you can buy. That's a Win-Win situation, for both you and your baby, otherwise you both suffer, because...


Your baby could be unhealthy, and you could get fat for the rest of your life, or at least have a real hard time getting rid of the excess fat.

What's Normal Weight Gain During Pregnancy?
In a normal pregnancy, you should have a weight gain during pregnancy of about 25 to 30 Lbs or a little more depending on the situation.

Lets say that you give birth to a baby that's about 7 to 8 Lbs. Increased blood volume can be another 3 to 4 Lbs, and increased fluid volume can be another 2 to 3 Lbs.

On top of that, your body could store away anywhere from 6 to 8 Lbs of fat. (That's a survival feature in case of famine). Add it all up and you could have a weight gain during pregnancy of anywhere from 24 to 32 Lbs, but that's nothing to fear, because very little of that is fat, and...

If you nourish both you and the baby during pregnancy, then your metabolism will remain normal, and you'll have no problems with weight loss after pregnancy.

What's Healthy Eating During Pregnancy?
This subject could cover many Volumes all by itself, but to keep it simple...
Eating healthy during pregnancy is no different than when you're not pregnant, lots of fresh fruits and vegetables (organic if possible), and stay off the "Junk Foods".

It's not Rocket Science!
Go easy on the meats, and especially stay away from the cultured meats because most of them contain lots of Sulfites and Nitrites as preservatives and these are very unhealthy for adults let alone your baby. Read the ingredients in all processed foods for these preservatives also, because they are very pervasive.

Take Top Quality Supplements
Since most of the foods available in the supermarkets today, are very deficient in nutrients, it's important to take top quality supplements which your body can absorb.

With obesity on the rise Americans are looking to weight loss surgery as an answer to an ever growing epidemic. The latest statistics show that over 2/3 of Americans are overweight, and 1/3 of those Americans are obese, and these numbers are growing exponentially. It is no wonder why individuals are considering weight loss surgery for an answer to weight problem that plagues them. Surprisingly, it is expected that over 150,000 Americans will have some form of weight loss surgery this year. Those numbers would probably sky rocket if it weren't for the $25,000.00 - $40,000.00 it cost for the various types of weight loss surgery. There are two main types of weight loss surgery. The first type of weight loss surgery is a restrictive method. If a weight loss surgeon uses the restrictive method he/she will perform one of two types of weight loss medical procedure. During this type of procedure a small pouch is formed from the stomach using staples. This type of surgery is what pioneered the advancements in weight loss surgery. Lap-band surgery is one of the most common types of weight loss surgeries that are being performed today. It is more effective than stapling the stomach, and less invasive. With this type of procedure a small pouch is still made in the patients stomach; however, it is made with a plastic band, or a lap-band. The unique thing about this lap-band is the fact that it is adjustable. There is a small pad that is set just under the skin during lap-band surgery. This pad is connected via a small tube to the lap-band that is around the stomach. Saline can be injected into this pad if needed at any point in the future.

 

When gastric bypass surgery is performed it inhibits the body from effectively digesting the food all the way. The body absorbs fewer calorie and fewer fats when a part of the small intestine is bypassed. The idea behind this type of weight loss surgery is to limit the amount of nutritional components that the body can absorb. That is why it is typical that most weight loss surgery patients have to have nutritional supplements to maintain their health. You might wonder why weight loss surgery is so popular. Is Natural Weight Loss Really Possible?

Only natural weight loss can be permanent. Going on diets and taking weight loss pills to eliminate food cravings is only temporary and leads to obesity. That's a Lie!
The people who make these kinds of claims, obviously haven't a clue how the human body works as it relates to weight control, and they should probably look for some other line of work.

The Fat Burning Workout Or Sugar Burning
Yes it's true that fat is burnt in the muscles, but so is sugar. All the really hard exercises where you sweat a lot and your muscles hurt, is burning practically nothing but sugar, and almost no fat. Most professional teach that you have to work really hard to burn fat, and so the more motivated you are to have a fat burning workout, the harder you work, and the harder you work, the more sugar you burn, but practically no fat whatsoever.

You can go through all kinds of weight lifting routines for your weight loss workout, and even build big muscles, but they will be "sugar burning muscles", not fat burning muscles. If you're a woman, you can build such big muscles this way, that you'll begin to look like a Guy, but you'll still be fat!

Walking for Weight-Loss
Realize that "walking for weight loss" is the absolute best weight loss exercise available. Unless you're already very fit, walking for weight loss is a much better fat burning exercise than running for weight loss.

It's all relative!
If you're unfit and overweight, especially if you're obese and a typical couch potato, then...
If you go running for weight-loss, you'll burn almost nothing but sugar and you'll probably be very sore the next day.

On the opposite extreme, if you're an experienced marathon runner, then your body is a very efficient "Fat Burning Machine", which burns almost nothing but fat during a run.

There's no doubt that stomach-stapling surgery leads to dramatic weight loss. But new research shows that the procedure might also add years to life.

As the number of obese people in the U.S. has soared, so has the popularity of the surgery. In fact, East Carolina University researchers estimated that the number of people undergoing weight-loss surgery increased from 40,000 in 2001 to 86,000 this year and will reach 140,000 next year.

Past research has shown that gastric bypass improves diabetes, high blood pressure, and other diseases related to excess fat. But the effect on a person's life span has been unknown, until now

To answer that question, researchers at New Hampshire's Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center first looked at data from previous research that showed how much a weight an average person loses after having the surgery. Then they looked at the average life expectancies of people at various heights and weights. In this way, they could estimate how much the change in weight caused by surgery would affect patients' life span.

The results suggest that most people eligible for the surgery would benefit, says lead researcher G. Darby Pope, MD, surgery resident at Dartmouth-Hitchcock. "By undergoing the surgery, they will gain life years," he said. Pope presented the study this week at a meeting of the American College of Surgeons in San Francisco.

In your quest for weight loss, please remember weight loss programs will only work when you make peace with the inner emotions that drove you to overeat. You can do this by incorporating daily activities that keep you focused on the positives. Take out lesson #2 again and practice the techniques. People with a BMI, a measure of obesity that takes both height and weight into account, over 25 are considered overweight. But according to U.S. government guidelines, patients should have a BMI of at least 40, or a BMI of 35 with a related serious disease, to be eligible for gastric bypass surgery. Most such patients are more than 100 pounds overweight.

The results varied according to the patients' age, gender, and body mass index (BMI). According to the researchers, a woman with a BMI of 45 at age 40 would gain three years of life. A man of similar age and size could expect to gain 3.9 years.

These results are better than those obtained by heart disease surgery, Pope said. But he cautioned that no one should interpret these findings literally. The actual effects of the gastric bypass surgery will vary a lot from one individual to another.

Questions about the benefits of gastric bypass surgery will be answered with more certainty by studies now under way on large groups of patients, Pope says.

The surgery is getting more popular not only because more people are obese, but also because surgeons have improved their techniques. In earlier weight-loss surgery, doctors routed the digestive track past much of the intestines, resulting in malnutrition.

In the kind of surgery in the Dartmouth-Hitchcock study, most of the stomach is stapled shut so that food can only enter a small pouch at the top. A branch of the intestines is connected to this pouch. (The unused part of the stomach is connected to this branch downstream in order to drain its fluids.)

Patients vomit if they overeat, but feel full with much less food. Typically, they lose about three-quarters of their excess weight in the first year, then gradually gain some back. After ten years or more, most carry about half the excess weight they had before the surgery, says Pope.

Patients must take nutritional supplements for the rest of their lives, and there is a chance of dying from complications of the surgery. But Pope and his colleagues took this risk of complications into account in their study and the results suggest that the risk of death from the procedure are much less than the risk of death from obesity. The main problem with this type of surgery is it is only a short-term solution. Usually overweight people have poor eating habits and do not exercise. Having surgery does not correct either. It is vital to have a change of lifestyle to undergo healthy weight loss. Without the change, the body remains in an unhealthy state.

Wow!! What did you think of that exercise? You keep this up and you're going to have the world in your hands. You already do, you know. The world is right there within you, you just need to believe it. Okay, now shout…I DO BELIEVE IN ME, I DO BELIEVE IN ME, I DO BELIEVE IN ME!! Phew!! You got it!!

You're on FIRE now!! Do you want to keep feeling that fire?

Then let's keep going with positive affirmations. Ready, set, go! Can you tell I was a former cheerleader?

Well, until I got kicked off the squad for missing the bus back to school after a field trip to a local college. Hey, there were some cute college boys. I could not pass up a chance to talk to them. Was it worth it?

ABSOLUTELY!!

Sorry, just remembering that experience made my temperature rise. I'm back on track now. Focus, Focus!! Ready to use your imagination?

Imagine you're a cheerleader out on the field. You're in that cute, little uniform and you're looking so fine shaking your pom poms….WHEW baby, you are looking mighty fine…hot stuff, in fact! Ready for the cheer?

Give me a S, give me a U, give me a P, give me an E, give me a R. What's that spell?

S…U…P…E….R!! That's you!! Feeling so good!!

You have to be feeling great, now!! These are amazing demonstrations of just who you are. Remember that your brain does not know the difference between what is real and what is imagined. So keep this in mind when you're thinking. It's so easy to practice negativity because it's comfortable. But what does negativity get you? Pause and think about this? Does it get you what you want or what you don't want? I can't hear you!!

Now, I'm going to ask you another question?

What does being positive get you?

Does it get you what you want or what you don't want?

I can't hear you!! Well, then why aren't you thinking more positive thoughts to get you what you want?

If you're going to be thinking a thought, why not make it a powerfully positive one?

So now for your homework. Get Louise Hay's book, You Can Heal Your Life. You can get it the library or through your local bookstore. It's like a Bible to me and I refer to it often. In fact, now my 20 year old daughter will pull it off the bookshelf whenever she is experiencing something negative to see what she needs to focus on. You, too, will benefit from having this book. There are a lot of positive affirmations. Enjoy!!
