I could reasonably claim without fear of contradiction, that virtually all women are obsessesd by their weight, their figure, their body image and their overall appearance in general!
Speaking as a woman, I suppose that I would have to admit that we are just never ever completely happy with ourselves! Just imagine what you might hear if you could listen in to female conversations,(we are much much more intimate with each other than men are you know!). Women talk to each other about the most trivial(often to men) things in abundant detail, home, family, men, makeup, sex, clothes, in fact probably about everything under the sun. However, a pretty large part of womens' conversations with one another usually center round some aspect of their appearance in some shape or form. Mostly they are either on a diet, just finished with a diet , or trying to motivate themselves to start some new weight loss program or other!
Still Lose Weight - I know that taking steps to better your life is not always easy. It takes courage to do this. Sometimes it's easier just to keep in the mind set of surviving and do what you've always done. When you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten.
My partner does tell me that he actually means what he says when asked that question, but when a woman hears the word "fine", she probably thinks that there must be something wrong somewhere,and will go and start changing her outfit all over again.
What I am getting at here is that women can be obsessive about how they look, and in truth, most men probably don,t really understand why! If a woman asks her partner how she looks, say just before they are going out somewhere, ninety nine times out of one hundred he will say she looks fine, and I guess in his eyes so she does! Lets face it though, men and women will never understand each other, and that's part of the attraction! Women are also bombarded on a daily basis with magazines, advertisements, television etc, all trying to portray how we should look. and in fact how we should feel as well!
So we are under much more peer pressure about our looks, weight, image, etc, etc, than men ever will be! Probably it is little wonder then that most men are completely mystified by women in general, and most certainly where health and weight loss issues are concerned. I am going to make the very serious point however that men should be much more concerned about these things than they are. In the last ten years or so, there has been a much greater trend among men to be more concerned about their health and appearance, and this is particularly true of the younger man. Perhaps they also are increasingly influenced by male magazines who now feature these types of topics on a regular basis. This can only be good for male health awareness in general, at least in my view.
So what has all this got to do with the Male Sexual Health, that I mentioned in the title to this article! My point is, that if men were as image and appearance concious as the majority of women are, and with their weight in particular, then some really positive benefits would automatically occur with regard to their sexual performance.(it is the man who must "perform" when all is said and done) Let me summarize by making the point that good sexual relations depend to a great extent on how good you feel about yourself, mentally as well as physically! So if men were as concerned about weight loss as most women are, I suggest that their sexual health would automatically benefit. The rigorous regime of healthy eating, exercise,and general self control required to succeed in losing weight, would by default make them much better in bed, to get down to the basics of it!
Everyone needs to feel good about themselves for better sex, but I think that this applies especially to men. It is a subject that I do go into in much greater detail in a report that I have written called "How To Have An Unforgettably Good Time Between The Sheets". - Sit with your legs straight out in front of you and your back straight. - Place your right palm flat on the floor behind you as you twist your head and shoulders so that you are looking over your right shoulder. - Make sure that you keep both buttocks flat on the floor. - Hold for 15 then do the other side.
1 Minute Back Scratcher
- Sit with your legs stretched out in front of you and your back straight. - Stretch your right arm and bend it at the elbow as if you are going to scratch your back between your shoulder blades. - Reach your left arm behind your back to touch or hold the fingers of your right hand. - Hold this position for 30 seconds. - Repeat on the other side. There is so much interest in weight loss and oolong tea (a.k.a. wulong tea) that we are going to look at research supporting the connection.
Let's start at the beginning
All tea comes from one plant Camellia Sinensis if it doesn't come from that plant it is not tea (herbs come from a variety of plants). Over time, the plant has protected itself from photosynthetic stressors by forming chemical compounds known as polyphenols. Polyphenols, which include flavonoids, have the same beneficial class of compounds, antioxidants, that make fruits and vegetables good for you.
All tea is green when picked. Green tea is heated in order to halt the natural enzymatic reaction (oxidation) of the leaf. Once dried, green tea leaves are then rolled intentionally breaking the cell structure. Oolong tea leaves are plucked, kept under carefully controlled conditions and allowed to oxidize. These leaves are not intentionally broken, leaving most of the cell structure intact. These processing differences make each category of tea beneficially different even though they come from the same plant.
The Weight Loss Connection
The two main ways to reduce food related body weight are; increase energy expenditure (EE) and inhibit the absorption of nutrients, including fat and carbohydrates. Caffeine is a stimulant so it is widely accepted that the caffeine in tea increases metabolism, hence increasing EE. So the question becomes, is it only the caffeine or are other compounds in the tea contributing to that increase?
The Chinese have long believed that oolong tea is beneficial in reducing and maintaining weight. A Chinese study, in 1998, of 102 females showed that continuous consumption of oolong tea for six weeks resulted in a reduction of body weight. This study, along with the question of other compounds contributing to tea's weight loss benefits, spurred further research.
In 2001, Physiologist Dr. William Rumpler, of the US Agriculture Research Services' Diet and Human Laboratory, investigated the ancient Chinese belief that oolong tea is effective in controlling body weight. The study measured how tea influences energy expenditure (EE) and included 12 male volunteers who were given 4 separate beverage formulas over three consecutive days. The beverage formulas consisted of; 1) full strength oolong tea, 2) caffeinated water with caffeine equal to full strength oolong tea, 3) half strength oolong tea and 4) non caffeinated water.
The participants 24 hour EE was measured and resulted in;
- EE levels of about 3% higher when they drank either the full strength oolong tea or the caffeinated water versus the non caffeinated water.
- Participants burned an average of 67 more calories per day when drinking the full strength oolong tea.
- Participants increased fat oxidation (fat burning) by a whooping 12% after consuming the full strength oolong tea versus the caffeinated water.
- This data confirms that a component other than caffeine is responsible for promoting the preferential use of fat as an energy source.
The increase in fat oxidation in this study is amazing! Drinking oolong tea can actually tell your body to burn fat for energy! Scientists then speculated that caffeine combined with EGCGs worked together to increase fat oxidation. A Japanese study, conducted in 2003, went one step further comparing the benefits of oolong tea and green tea on weight reduction. Eleven healthy young female students participated in this well controlled study. Participants received three different beverage formulas; 1) oolong tea, 2) powdered green tea leaves and 3) water. Both teas were prepared with boiling water. The oolong tea steeped for five minutes and the powdered green tea leaves were dissolved.
After measurements were taken, the results determined;
- Oolong tea had higher EE levels from beginning to end and at intervals of 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes.
- EE levels peaked at 90 minutes for both oolong and green tea and remained at their respective levels until 120 minutes.
- These results indicate that after consuming oolong tea you will expend more energy then if you were to drink green tea or water and that it can last up to two hours.
The concentrations of caffeine, individual catechins and other polyphenols were also measured producing these interesting findings;
- The caffeine and EGCG content was much higher in the green tea versus the oolong tea.
- The concentration of polymerized polyphenols was significantly higher in the oolong tea versus the green tea.
These findings show that it's the polymerized polyphenols, highest in oolong tea, that link tea to burning fat, not just the caffeine or just the combination of caffeine and EGCGs. Furthermore, the rest of the compounds compared in the teas were similar or equal to one another with no marked differences, reinforcing the results. We have shown that oolong tea significantly increases EE for up to as much as 120 minutes and can even promote preferential use of fat as an energy source making it a healthy tool for reducing and maintaining weight. So what about absorption of nutrients?
Oolong tea's effect on blocking the absorption of fats and carbohydrates is thought to play a key role in its weight reducing benefits. While more studies need to be done, initial studies indicate that oolong tea has absorption blocking potential. There are proven methods for losing weight and keeping it off; exercise, getting enough sleep and eating a balanced diet. Oolong tea can enhance these positive changes and garner faster results.
Let's Face It
- Oolong tea is not a quick fix despite the recent advertising claims by slick marketing "professionals."
-Oolong tea does not have to be expensive to be effective. $39.95 is too much to pay for a 30 day supply of low quality oolong.
Remember to get what you pay for.
- These studies do not indicate that oolongs grown in a specific area are better fat burners than other oolongs. It's the processing that counts.
- Losing 20 lbs in 30 days by adding two cups of oolong tea to your daily routine is nothing more than hype. If this were true, I'd be a size 2.
- If you were dieting, drinking oolong and exercising it would be hard to achieve that much weight loss in 30 days.

You will be more likely to go for a big glass of cold water instead.
Some people laugh at these two weightloss tips but they do work if you take a behavioral approach. You have to focus on your actions. The best way to look at it is making priorities. Do you want the chocolate cake or do you want to fit into those jeans tucked away in your closet? There are times that the chocolate cake will win but not often if you focus on your behavior. Weightloss tips that involve a behavioral approach also include portions. We often need to train ourselves to understand how much is enough.
Getting into the habit of buying single-sized servings or taking the time to measure will increase your chances of success. You also may find that there are certain "triggers" that cause you to eat. This is a simple stimulus-response cycle that the behaviorists claim can be broken with a little effort. Weightloss tips in the trigger realm include avoiding the kitchen right after a stressful situation, eating only at the dinner table and keeping a diary of what happens right before you get a craving.

Keep A Diary Of What You Eat
I think you will be very surprised if before you start your diet you keep a journal of what you eat and at what times. Do this for about a week. Then study your journal and see where you can cut back and find out at what times are you eating that could cause problems. If you find you are having a snack at 10 pm at night. Try bringing the time time in. You never what to eat to soon before you go to bed.
For instance, the Weight Watchers system allows you to keep track of each calorie you consume at each meal. When you take the time to program weight loss and calories into your computer, it will serve as a guide to prevent you from exceeding the healthy limit.
Buy Diet Food Prepared
What can make dieting hard to stick to is the preparation? Having the diet food available to you also means having to go shopping then come home and prepare your healthy meal. Now a days it seems everyone is so rushed with no time to spare. Would it not be easier to have your diet meal already prepared for you? Have healthy snacks ready to eat. Instead of grabbing for the chips have carrot slices ready to grab. You will still get that sensation of crunchy with a more healthy nutritious choice.
Water, Water, Water
If you do some research regarding dieting one thing you will hear over and over is to drink plenty of water. Not only will water help to fill you up so you do not eat to much, but it is also great for your appearance. Water is the best beauty treatment. It flushes out the impurities and gives you great looking skin. Drinking water can also improve muscle tone. Muscles having all the water they need contract easier. Drinking water can give you a more effective workout when you exercise. You should drink at least 8 8 oz glasses of water a day and more if you are more than 25 pounds over weight. For every 25 lbs I would drink another 8 oz glass of water.
Keep water by you. Use a straw if that will help you drink more. Good luck and stick with it. Take it day by day. I also recommend only weighing your self once a week. As always before you start any diet or exercise program check with your doctor first.
