Easy Weight Loss - Small Steps that Make a Big Difference

If you have a significant amount of weight to lose - say 20 pounds or more - the task ahead of you can seem very daunting. Is it any wonder that so many people try to put it off, or to deny that the problem is as serious as it really is? But studies show that being significantly overweight carries with it a huge health risk, so being in denial about weight problems is very dangerous - it can even be deadly.

Take it slow. Don't try to lose the weight all at once, especially if you have a lot of weight to lose.

Still, when you think about it in terms of a concrete plan to lose weight, it can be very daunting indeed. One pound is approximately 3,500 calories, and just thinking about how much exercise you would have to do to burn that much is exhausting. You can understand why people put it off, even though that has the potential of making the problem worse.


Maybe the best advice, therefore, is this: Instead, every week, commit to a small change in your lifestyle that takes you a little bit closer to your goal. For example, the first week you might decide to add some exercise to your daily regime. But if you don't have the time or the energy to go to the gym and do a full scale work out, don't worry about it - you can still participate.


Commit to going for a fifteen minute walk every day after dinner - just fifteen minutes, just an easy walk, but you have to do it every day, rain or shine. It doesn't sound like an ambitious plan - almost anyone can do it. The point is actually doing it, not just thinking about it. The next week, you might decide to address the health of your diet, so you decide to eat fruit for a snack instead of the crackers or chips you might normally reach for. Again, it's a small thing, just one modified snack a day. But again, if you do it everyday, soon it will start to make a difference.


Here's the trick, though. When you start implementing your second week's change, keep doing what you committed to doing the first week. I mean, you might as well. You're already used to it, and each of these changes, in and of themselves, are small and easy. So during the second week, you're walking every day and eating fruit. You're well on your way. The third week, you may decide to eat a bit less. Here's an easy way to do it - for any food that you would normally eat, take away a quarter of it. So, fill your plate and then take off a quarter of the food and put it in a Tupperware container for later, or buy a slice of pizza at lunch but tear off a quarter. Throw it away, or, if that offends your moral sense, put it out for the homeless. Or get a doggie bag, if you're in a restaurant. Of course, if there's an actual dog around, you can feed it your excess food.


Then proceed to enjoy the rest of the meal or snack, regardless of what it is. Fruits and vegetables are exempt from this process, by the way - they don't need to be 'quartered'. It is usually at this point, around the three-week mark, that people start noticing a difference in the way their clothes fit. Weight loss is starting to kick in, and it will only accelerate during the coming weeks. We don't recommend that you weigh yourself, however. Save that for the end, and you'll be amazed. In the meantime, enjoy how different your lifestyle changes are making you look and feel.


Keep accumulating them. Here are some more ideas for incremental changes: During the fourth week, you might want to give up fried foods, if they are something you normally eat. Or you might want to walk instead of taking the elevator, or park three blocks away from home or the office and walk the remainder. The point is that it all adds up. You don't need to make big changes in your lifestyle - over time, the little ones an make a huge difference.

It does so by balancing proportions of different food groups, and eating certain food groups together. The Zone's philosophy is that the key to successful weight loss is balancing insulin, which can be achieved by reducing carbohydrate intake and emphasizing low-fat proteins and monsaturated fats.

The Isagenix diet involves a total body cleanse. In the pre-cleanse phase, Isagenex shakes and soups are used to replace two meals a day. During two cleanse days, a special drink is ingested four times each day, and Isagenix snacks are eaten up to six times each day. For the rest of the week, two servings of shake or soup replace two of your three meals. This is followed by two additional cleanse days. So how does it work. Here's what's commonly referred to as the

The Basic Recipe for EFT

1) Choose the specific issue or negative emotion you're feeling. Be specific. "I need some ice cream" or "I'm depressed because I'm so fat"


3. Have one day off a week

Stick to your diet for weight loss for six days a week on the seventh eat what you want. If you fancy a pizza or a burger have one.

The major problem with diets (and why people don't stick to them) is they deprive you have choice. If you can't have something you want it more! One day off out of seven gives you back choice and will make the rest of your diet easier to adhere to longer term.


2) Rate the intensity of your negative emotion on a scale of 1 to 10. In this case 10 is the highest level of stress or desire.

"My desire for this ice cream is an 8 out of 10"

"My depression over my weight is a 10 out of 10"


3) Begin tapping. Use the fingers of one hand to tap on the karate chop point of the opposite hand. The karate chop point is located on the side of the hand opposite the thumb side of your hand. It's the side of the hand that you would use if you were doing a karate chop.


While tapping the karate chop point repeat the following affirmation 5 times:

"Even though I have this (STATE THE PROBLEM), I deeply and completely accept, love and forgive myself." (Repeat 5 times)

"Even though I am craving ice cream I deeply and completely accept, love and forgive myself" (Repeat 5 times)

"Even though I'm depressed because I'm fat I deeply and completely accept, love and forgive myself"


4) Tap 9 times on each of the following points while repeating the "reminder phrase".

"I am releasing this (your problem)"

"I am releasing this ice cream craving"

"I am releasing this depression"

The Points: Between the eyes Sides of eyes Under eyes Under nose Chin Collarbone Under arm Head


5) Now rate the intensity of your negative emotion on a scale of 1 to 10. You should see a reduction in the intensity level. The process might have to be repeated several times to reduce the intensity level to a 0-2. If you have eliminated the negative emotion you can stop here.


6) Variation of step 3 - "Even though I STILL have SOME of this PROBLEM, I deeply and completely accept and love myself and forgive myself."

"Even though I still have some craving for ice cream I deeply and completely accept, love and forgive myself" (Repeat 5 times)

"Even though I still feel some sadness I deeply and completely accept, love and forgive myself" (Repeat 5 times)


7) Variation of step 3 - "I am releasing this remaining (your problem)".

"I am releasing this remaining ice cream craving"

"I am releasing these remaining sad feelings"

This basic lesson in EFT is easy to learn and use. Try it out the next time you crave some potato chips or candy. You will be amazed how quickly you can neutralize your cravings.

When we all were in a hurry go for quick snacks fast food etc. The trick here is to have some healthy foods made up in advance, or on hand in the cupboard to make up. Tinned tuna, salmon, sardines and mackerel are great for this. Simply get them out, do a baked potato and add some salad for a tasty meal in around 10 minutes.


5. Eat healthy fats

You don't have to give up fats just make sure you eat healthy ones i.e. non saturated ones.


6. Eat Fiber

Eating fiber is great as it fills you up for longer. As it cannot be digested it is discarded along the way and takes fats from other foods with it. Most people don't eat enough fiber so make sure you do!


7. Don't fry food

Avoid frying always go for grilling or boiling to cut down your unhealthy fat consumption.


8. Eat naturally from the earth

Go organic and try and eat natural foods. Not only do they have less fat, they also tend to have more nutrients and less harmful additives.


9. Eat breakfast

You body needs to be fueled after sleeping, so not only will it get you off to a great start and give you energy, it will help you avoid hunger pangs later in the day.


10. Drink lots of water

Drinking water is one of the most important catalysts for losing weight. Many hunger pangs are simply thirst pangs, so before you reach for food drink water. Water also helps the body metabolize fat better, so drink 2 - 3 liters per day.


11. Eat five meals a day

Eating more frequently will stop you from feeling hungry and will keep your body healthy and alert. Eating five meals a day also means that you will never have hunger pangs. Obviously, make sure that your portion sizes and calorie intake are in line with your weight and build!


12. Eat a balanced diet

Fad diets don't work; they deprive you of foods you should eat and are so difficult to follow most people give up and finally, there unhealthy!


If you lose weight fast you will gain it back (maybe more) just as fast. You need to eat a well balanced diet of carbs protein and fat.
