Are you tired of getting the same old advice when it comes to dieting? Are you looking for some quick tips to help motivate yourself during a diet? Why not follow along below to learn about some quick healthy weight loss tips?

Don't skip breakfast when you're dieting, and don't go for the convenience of a 'nutrition bar'.

Tip # 1: Take off five pounds quickly before a big event!

If you're generally in good shape, but you want to pare off a few pounds to look your best before a big event like a class reunion, one of the best ways to do it is to cleanse your system. For the week before, skip the breads and pastas, eat lots of raw vegetables and salads, and drink at least eight ounce glasses of water a day. You'll not only end up slimmer, you'll feel 100% more energetic and healthy.

 

Tip # 2: Lose weight without dieting!

It's a lot easier than you think. The key is exercise. Just one half hour of moderate exercise per day will burn calories - and better yet, kick your metabolism into high gear so that you continue burning calories at a higher rate. Bonuses: you'll be doing your health a favor, too. The latest research shows that adding moderate exercise to your daily routine can help lower cholesterol, slow the progression of type-2 diabetes and improve your circulation. What's moderate exercise? A brisk one mile walk, half an hour of dancing, or chasing the kids around in a game of tag will do it.

 

Tip # 3: Start your day off right!

Give your body the pick-me-up of fresh fruit in either juice or raw form, and the staying power of a whole grain. One of the best breakfasts you can have is a bowl of whole-grain cereal with fresh berries, melon or peaches. You get the sugar your body craves, the carbs it needs to run on, and the added benefit of antioxidant vitamins to help it stay on track and balanced.

 

Tip # 4: Take a high quality multivitamin every day.

There's no substitute for a diet that has a healthy balance of all foods, but it's far too easy to skimp on the essentials when you're dieting. Make sure that your body doesn't miss out on the nutrients it needs just because you're cutting calories. A good multivitamin should contain, at a minimum, the minimum recommended daily allowances of vitamins A, B6, B12, C, E and K. While you're at it, get out in the sun for at least ten minutes a day to help your body manufacture the vitamin D that it needs.

 

Tip # 5: Eat your veggies - especially your lettuce.

But don't confine yourself to iceberg lettuce or to salads. Darker greens have about the same number of calories and carbs, but pack a lot more punch in the vitamins and other nutrient categories. By substituting radicchio, watercress, escarole or spinach for the iceberg lettuce, you add vitamin C, riboflavin's, manganese and other essential vitamins that aren't present in lettuce. Try them braised, steamed or grilled for something a little different from the usual salad.

Perhaps you've heard the joke about the SHOCKING news headlines from the year 2050: "New study reveals that exercise and proper nutrition is the key to successful weight loss!" It seems that we're always looking for a quick and easy way to lose fat, but those darn studies and that reputable research just keeps getting in the way of our dream!

 

There's always someone out there telling us we can lose fat without watching our diet and without any exercise. As much as we'd like to believe that's true, deep down inside we know better. The ads promising that we can 'get slim quick' remind us of the 'get rich quick' infomercials we see on late-night television. Still, there's no shortage of 'get slim quick' products out there.....

 

A YaHoo search of the term "Easy Weight Loss" yielded about 10,600,000 hits. A Google search of the phrase "Quick Weight Loss" showed about 14,300,000 recommended sites to visit!

 

Looking up "Easy Fat Loss" on YaHoo revealed about 4,290,000 answers. Finally, running a Google search for "I want to lose weight but I don't want to exercise because I don't have the time, money or will power" will bring up about 633,000 sites.....we're not kidding!

 

Compare that to the Google results for "Weight Loss Truth": only about 2,760,000.

+ PERMANENT FAT LOSS REQUIRES EFFORT Let's face it, there really is no good way to lose fat without any effort! Successful and permanent weight (fat) loss takes some time, it takes some effort, and it certainly requires some exercise! Consider what Dr. Gabe Mirkin had to say on the subject this week: "There are many products on the market today that promise to help you lose weight. None will help you unless they get you to exercise more and eat fewer calories." (Source: The Sportsmedicine Institute, Inc. - DrMirkin.com)

 

+ DON'T BE TEMPTED BY SHORTCUTS So is it possible to lose weight quickly? Sure, but weight loss achieved quickly and/or by 'cheating' will never be permanent and is usually not healthy. Remember the phen-fen pills that were popular just a few years ago? While they certainly helped you lose weight, they were withdrawn from the market in September of 1997 after being linked to the occurrence of serious cardiac valvular disease, and primary pulmonary hypertension.

 

Please note that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) found that ephedra was effective for ONLY short-term weight loss. Does that sound like a permanent solution? There are lots of other 'shortcuts' out there, from laxatives to harsh stimulants. There are also some honestly good products that can help us lose fat IF they are used in conjunction with regular exercise and healthy nutrition. Green tea is a good example. Clinical studies conducted by Dr. Abdul Dulloo, of the University of Geneva in Switzerland brought the conclusion that green tea weight raises metabolic rates and speeds up fat oxidation (Source: green-tea.dminternational.biz).

 

+ THE TAKE-HOME MESSAGE So what's the take-home message? The bottom line is that there is no 'get slim quick' miracle out there. The only way to achieve permanent fat loss by following the same advice we've been hearing for years: exercise regularly and watch what we eat!

 

Let's watch out for products that claim we can achieve the body we've always wanted without diet or exercise. We know that's not true, so let's not be tempted by the empty promise. Until next time, we'll see you at the gym!

Ephedra, another weight loss pill, was pulled from shelves on April 12, 2004. After a careful review of the available evidence about the risks and benefits of ephedra in supplements, the FDA found that these supplements present an unreasonable risk of illness or injury to consumers. The data showed little evidence of ephedra's effectiveness, except for short-term weight loss, while confirming that the substance raises blood pressure and stresses the heart (Source: nccam.nih.gov).

 

As you know I am divorced and have a great relationship with my ex-husband. We share stories about our dating experiences and only desire happiness for each other. 7 Simple Weight Loss Feasting Tips for the Holiday Season

Here comes Halloween... and the start of the "season of feasting" for a lot of folks around here. It's become a sort of time-honored "tradition" for Americans to put on weight between Halloween and New Year's Day. Some would even say it's to be expected -- "After all, it's the holidays!", they say. Now, I love the holidays. And I bet you do too. Who wouldn't love all the great treats and wonderful foods that just seem to spring up around us during the holiday season, right? But don't you just hate it when you step on the scales after the holidays, and discover you've put on weight?

 

Fret not, for I'm here to show you how you can have fun during the holidays and enjoy all your favorite holiday treats, _without_ putting on any extra pounds. Here are 7 Simple Weight Loss Feasting Tips for the Holiday Season...

 

1. Give yourself permission - Go ahead and eat anything you want during the holiday season. Halloween, Christmas, New Year's, it doesn't matter. Yes, you can have all your favorite foods. Isn't it refreshing to know that you don't have to abstain from your perennial favorites? You see, we tend to want more of what we cannot have. The more you try to stop yourself from eating something, the more you want to eat it. And when you do give in to the temptation, you'll tend to overeat. Here's the secret: It's not "all or nothing". Have anything you want, as long as you remember not to go overboard and consume too much.

 

Many weight loss forums are just a bunch of people simply giving out advice that they think may work or has worked for them before. It is a bunch of people who "are not 100% sure" about what is going on with weight loss -- after all, more often than not, that is why they you go in there -- for new information and tips to help you. Weight Loss Web Sites: Again, 95% of all weight loss web sites were started by some "Joe Average" who is simply posting links to a ton of other weight loss and diet sites.

 

2. Be clear of your goals - There must be a reason why you want to keep your weight down. If you don't already have a reason, now's the time to sit down and think of as many as possible. This step is critical if you want to be able to enjoy your holidays and maintain your weight throughout. You need to be crystal-clear about your "Why". Why do you want to lose weight? How would you feel if you end up putting on weight? Conversely, how would you feel if you can go through the holidays and yet maintain your current weight? Think about these questions carefully, and build up your arsenal of "reasons why". The next time you are tempted to overeat, recall these reasons again and they'll help you to stay in control.

 

3. Have a little of everything - Remember how it's not "all or nothing"? The secret to enjoying all the great food without the subsequent guilt is to have a little of everything. Just remember to control your serving portion sizes. You have permission to eat all kinds of food, but this doesn't mean you can go out there and devour extra- large portions of everything with super-generous gravy toppings, ok?

 

4. Be careful of the little nibbles - Sometimes, it's not the big-time party or pig-out feasting session that causes you to gain weight. On the contrary, it's exactly the opposite -- it's the little candy and chocolate bar that you pick up to nibble on, everything time you open the fridge or walk past the office candy bowl. All these little snacks in between meal times can (and will!) add up to a lot of extra calories. This sneaky little problem is something that has caught many women off-guard. And now that you know this, it's easy to catch yourself in the act the next time it happens to you!

 

5. Be smart - They're certainly trying, but don't be fooled by the retailers and their fancy packaging and labels. Have you noticed a lot of the packaging now screams out phrases such "fewer calories", "low fat", "less sugar", "low carb" and etc? Whilst all these claims are true, it does NOT mean you can eat more and have bigger portions. Remember: "fewer/low/less" doesn't mean "Zero/None/Without". Also, it's pretty usual that when something comes with less of one thing, it has more of the other stuff e.g. lower carb, but more calories.

 

6. Use the healthier versions - Many of the sweets and treats offer you a choice of healthier versions. So when you can, please do opt for the low-calorie, reduced sugar, or lower fat varieties.

 

7. Choose the right chocolate - And if you must have chocolate, please go for dark chocolate and avoid the milk chocolate. By far, dark chocolate is the best choice as it has antioxidant properties that can protect the body from damaging oxidative stress. So there you have it, consuming a moderate amount of dark chocolates is actually healthy for you!

The Weight Loss Advice You Receive Will Determine, Right From The Start, If You Are Successful or Not Many people say nutrition is the most important aspect, others say it's fitness that is the #1 key to weight loss. But it's not one specific topic, it's where that topic or piece of information is coming from that is the #1 factor if you are successful or not!

 

People ask our professionals all the time ... what is the #1 key to permanent weight loss. The answer is very simple -- who and where your getting your weight loss tips and information from. The Problem with the weight loss industry at this very moment ... Is the millions of quick-fix, miracle diets, exercise contraptions along with all the misleading advice that surrounds the average person surfing the 'net looking to lose some weight and gather some information. So many people and sites claim to be experts, yet very few have the credentials to back it up!

None of which have the right credentials to be offering any advice or tips. Ant the real shame in all of this ... is that many of the weight loss web sites are offering some sort of quick-fix solution that they promise you that you can still eat cake all the time, not exercise and still lose "20 pounds in 2 weeks!" This simply screams scam! Remember these when looking for weight loss advice:

 

* Check the credentials: Who is offering the advice? Is it someone reputable? If it's a health professional that has appeared in world wide magazines, (such as our service), or are they a certified fitness professional or dietitian - if so then I would listen. But if you can't seem to find any credentials I would be very wary of listening to their advice.

 

* Are there false claims on the site right away? If right away the site is telling you that you can drop 20 pounds in one month with little effort, bail out of there right away!

 

* Watch out for certain words. Forums are famous for this ... we constantly see forum posts with people saying ..."you might want to try this, and you might try that." If someone tells you to try something, more times than not, they are offering something that they think may work. And we're assuming that you can't afford to "try" anything, you need results and you need them now!

 

The#1 factor in your weight loss will be the information you receive at the very beginning of your weight loss "campaign." Arm yourself with the proper knowledge, and you are sure to be successful, but if you follow bad advice, you're very likely to end up at the very spot to started -- still looking for answers and bigger than you want to be.
