Though it will probably never become a mainstream way of eating, there are those who swear by the raw foods diet. Not only will this diet help you lose weight, but it is also supposed to be healthier than any other way of eating. The concept is simple, though it may not be so easy to follow. Because proponents of the raw foods diet believe that nutrients are destroyed when food is cooked, they eat all or most of their food in its raw state, or as close to raw as it can be.
Needless to say, the raw foods diet is a vegetarian diet. In fact, it contains no animal products at all, so it is a vegan diet. And it's not for everyone - clearly, some people would find this way of eating too restrictive. However, it's not quite as restrictive and monotonous as you might think. In certain ways, this diet is also very healthy. Nowadays, many people consume more types of harmful fat than ever before. This has long lasting and far reaching implications for health. By eating raw fruits and vegetables, you avoid these problems altogether. Also, you are certain to get plenty of vitamins, certain minerals, and antioxidants, which have cancer-fighting properties.
On the other hand, the raw foods diet is not perfect. For one thing, it may not give you enough calories, especially for people who are still growing. This might be the last thing on your mind if you are setting out to lose weight - but believe it or not, it might be a problem. In the long run, eating too few calories might be as harmful as eating too many. It trains your body to expect only a reduced number of daily calories, and so your metabolism slows down. Eventually, if you do start eating more daily calories, your metabolism may not be able to adjust. To lose weight or improve health, consider trying the raw foods diet. If you use it for a limited period of time, it may function as a cleanse or fast, allowing you to rid yourself of toxins and boost your vitamin intake. The manufacturers of this pill expected that it would have a positive effect on weight loss. They - and the researchers - were surprised to find that it had another benefit as well.
This diet pill proved effective in lowering 'bad' cholesterol (triglycerides) by 7%, and even more significantly, it raised 'good' cholesterol (HDL) by 27%. This means that this pill, independent of its weight loss benefits, it also an effective means of improving your cholesterol profile and lowering your risk of heart disease and cardiovascular disease. Some of this change in cholesterol level may have been due to the fact that Acomplia does facilitate weight loss, and weight loss generally does improve one's cholesterol profile. However, it does seem as though it would do so even if no substantial weight loss is sustained.
Interestingly, this pill is also effective for other addictive behaviors, such as smoking. It's not known why - as far as we know, its physical effects are limited to the elimination of reduction of hunger. It seems as though there might be link between these two compulsive behaviors - overeating and smoking - though precisely what that link is is open to speculation at present Acomplia is not yet available to the pubic, but it will be by next year. Ask your doctor about it if you think it would be of benefit to you, and do some internet research. So far, it seems very promising, and the side effects are virtually non-existent. Time will tell, however, whether any concerns regarding this product come up - it's still in the clinical trial stages.
The decision to rely entirely on a pill for weight loss is usually a misguided one. Essentially, you have to do the work - you have to change your eating, and start exercising - and there's no real substitute for that. That having been said, however, it does seem as though this pill is an effective tool you can use to help you on your way. Ask your doctor about Acomplia, particularly if your cholesterol profile could use a bit of improvement!

For example, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, or getting off the bus a couple of stops early and walking to your destination, or the miles that you log in while shopping at the mall, are all excellent examples of passive exercise.
It's 'passive' in the sense that you don't have to go out and do it; you just do it as a function of your daily routine. This type of exercise is great, because everyone has time for it, and we don't need to worry about special clothing or equipment. Be sure to make time for passive exercise. Another great thing to do is to up your consumption of fresh food - fruits and vegetables. This is a good idea for a whole variety of reasons, of course, not the least of which is the fact that these foods fight cancer. They help you lose weight in two separate ways - first, they replace other, higher calorie food in your diet, and second, they make you feel full, because they are full of fiber.
These three weight loss tips cost you nothing in terms of money or time. All it takes is a little bit of planning and some consciousness of your weight loss goals. If, after a few weeks of faithfully implementing these changes, you aren't happy with the results, you may need to start on a more concentrated weight loss regime such as weight watchers. However, you may well find that these simple measures are enough for your weight loss needs, and all it takes is keeping them up on a regular, daily basis.
