Chinese Green Tea and Weight Loss - good combination

For most people, the Chinese green tea is a stuff of legends. It has been known to be very beneficial to human health and has been talked about and written about because of its countless positive effects for thousands of years. According to legend, the first person to ever taste Chinese green tea was the Emperor Shen Nung in 2737 B.C. It was said that while boiling some water for drinking, some leaves fell into his pot from a tree nearby. Green tea leaves when boiled smelled and tasted so wonderful that Shen Nung even urged his people to drink it.

When these two substances in the tea react, thermogenesis of the body increases by four percent.

The fame of the green tea did not stay at one place for long. It is believed that in A.D. 800, Chinese tea was brought to Japan by monks who studied Buddhism in China. What makes this green tea different from all other teas?

 

Chinese tea is produced from Camellia sinensis, the same plant where the oolong and black tea are derived. Yet, even though they all come from the same herb, the Chinese green drinnk truly stands out as an exceptional health drink. So what makes it different?

 

The difference lies in the method by which this tea is produced. Oolong and black tea leaves are traditionally oxidized and then dried while the Chinese green tea leaves are steamed and then dried. This method of producing green tea actually preserves most of the beneficial antioxidants present in it.

 

Chinese Green Tea for Health

While it is already common knowledge that green tea has several health benefits, modern scientists were able to provide several concrete proofs of the positive effects of Chinese tea. Its antioxidants are said to be the ones responsible for making the tea very beneficial. Recent findings show that the antioxidants in Chinese tea can reduce cholesterol levels in a person; can improve how blood vessels function; and can reduce blood lipids. It was also discovered that this healthy tea can have an anti-inflammatory effects and may provide protection against cardiovascular diseases.

 

Chinese Green Tea for Weight Loss

Significant findings were made that pointed to the benefits of such a tea in weight loss. According to the researchers of the University of Geneva, green tea has thermogenic properties which aid much in weight loss. In their study, they investigated the weight loss benefits of Chinese dieting by observing the interaction between the caffeine in green tea and a compound called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG).

 

The tendency of Chinese green tea to enhance metabolic rates has given people reason to believe that this tea has weight loss benefits as well. Another study concerning the weight loss benefits of Chinese dieting system was also conducted. The results of the research showed that green tea drinkers have a better propensity for weight loss. Drinking Chinese tea allows the body to burn an additional 70 calories a day, a feat that weight loss enthusiasts would relish. Today, Chinese green tea is widely available as a beverage and as an ingredient for weight loss products.

Healthy weight loss through the high fiber diet

 

While the most popular weight loss diets today are the so-called fad-diets, the more traditional high fiber diet does still have a good following. The high fiber weight loss diet is an easier to follow weight loss system than the more extreme fad diets such as the Atkins diet or South Beach diet. More importantly than that, many dieticians and nutritional consultants favor high fiber diets as they are generally considered to be a safer option that can have a positive effect on health in addition to weight loss. There are two different kinds of fiber, soluble and insoluble fiber. Soluble fiber is found in many foods such as fruits, vegetables, and beans. Insoluble fiber is usually found in whole meal foods such as flour, grains, rice and pasta. Insoluble fiber is thought to help with the passage of the food through the digestive tract and therefore promote good digestive health. High fiber weight loss diets generally rely on a combination of increased fiber in the diet, through more consumption of foods such as whole grains and cereals, while at the same time also restricting the amount of calories in the diet.

 

Also, while many weight loss experts may debate this, high fiber foods can take longer to chew. Although this is not directly beneficial to weight loss, it does allow the dieter to feel as though they have eaten a more substantial meal and it also makes the meal take longer and this in turn helps. Furthermore, along with weight loss, some dieticians believe that high fiber foods can make a positive contribution to good health by helping the food to move more efficiently through the body. Also many of the foods that are helpful in a high fiber weight loss diet are very good nutritionally. Many fruits, vegetables, and whole grains contain large amounts of vitamins and minerals and are thought to be very good for the health, as well as beneficial to the promotion of weight loss.

 

A high fiber diet an take a little getting used to, although this is also true with many other weight loss diets. The difference is that the high fiber weight loss diet is easy to follow and has been established for much longer than many of the fad diets that are an ever changing. The high fiber weight loss diet has many recommendations from health professionals but it is always a good idea to consult your doctor before changing your diet or starting a new weight loss plan.

Why Is Weight Loss So Hard?

Weight loss is a common problem millions of Americans today struggle with. Very few Americans have been successful at losing a desired amount of weight. The main problem is that most cannot stick to the designated program. For instance, a general weight loss program includes both diet as well as exercise. Most of the time an individual trying to lose weight will at least attempt one of these. Often times what happens is that the exercise may be too strenuous for that person since they must have lacked exercise for so long going back to why they are in such shape.

 

1. Despite the apparently agonizing contortions seen in every yoga book, the benefit is in the attempt to achieve the position. The models in the books arrived at their present level of ability over time, and many a skilled practitioner of yoga today began in the same shape you're in right now. It is okay to modify a position or to come out of it a little early if your body is not ready yet. The regular practice of your best version of the movement or position (asana), combined with yoga breathing techniques (easily learned) will produce progress over time.

 

Another perspective is the diet. Most people looking to lose weight are usually in this pandemic because of eating not only food with high amounts of sugars and fats, but also food in high quantities of these fats ans sugars. This becomes a significant problem because changing old habits for anyone is such a difficult process especially in America since you can't walk two feet out your door without seeing a McDonald's.

 

So in the end dieting or weight loss in general is such a difficult process because of the extreme new "way of life" you would have to adapt to. A recent statistic said that of those who fail to reach an ideal weight goal in a diet actually gain more weight trying the diet rather then losing. The reason for this is once you "give in," you start "binge eating" meaning you eats almost everything in site with no restrictions. This is a one negative impact of dieting viewed by many. Of course most researchers/doctors say diet and exercise are essential for a healthy life, whether losing weight or not.

Yoga And Weight Loss

Many people in America today try all sorts of things in pursuit of healthy, permanent weight loss. Unfortunately, they mainly seem to try fad diets, diet pills, celebrity diets, the grapefruit diet...you name it. In fact, stick an adjective or noun in front of the word "diet", and you might be the creator of the next diet craze. While someone might temporarily lose a few pounds with a "diet", diets are not successful when it comes to permanent weight loss and healthy weight loss.

 

As they say, I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that there IS a known and proven way to achieve significant, healthy, permanent weight loss. More good news is that, although some modification to what you presently like to eat will be necessary, extremely drastic changes are seldom required. Oh, yes, you might have to learn to substitute something you don't like that much right now for something you do like, but, in time, you can get accustomed to this, and even learn to like the new flavors and foods. I know. I've been there. The bad news is that, along with modifications to your eating habits, you are going to have to become more active. Dare I say it....?

 

You will have to exercise!

The benefits of exercise is an article in itself, and I have written elsewhere about how exercise can take many forms, so there is no need to lock yourself into an unpleasant or painful exercise regimen. What I really want to do here is give a small pitch for the practice of yoga as my exercise program of choice. Remember, however, my exercise program of choice might not be yours. As much as I like yoga, you will have to decide if yoga is right for you.Before I speak specifically about yoga, let's just list some of the known benefits of regular exercise in general. Exercise...

 

>Reduces the risk or affects of many illnesses and conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, stroke, arthritis, high blood pressure, and osteoporosis to name a few. Some studies even show possible reductions in the risk for some cancers.

>Elevates mood and reduces depression.

>Helps maintain healthy bones, muscles, joints, and nervous system.

>Delays affects of ageing, making seniors more mobile and self sufficient and less likely to fall prey to injury or illness.

>Reduces risk of premature death (sounds like a big one to me).

>Helps maintain a healthy weight.

 

Okay, since any good exercise program can provide these benefits, what does yoga have to offer that makes it special? In addition to providing the basic benefits of exercise in general, yoga does have a few specific things going for it.

 

2. No personal trainer or special equipment is needed, nor is it necessary to go to the gym or even out in public at all. You can do yoga naked if you don't have a pair of gym shorts, and a carpet is just as good as a yoga mat...at least at first. Yoga is actually so simple that it CAN be learned from a book, although it certainly wouldn't hurt to get guidance or training from a certified instructor.

 

3. Yoga is relaxing and relieves stress. Not only is this of great personal value in today's world, but if any part of your weight loss problem is stress related, and I can almost guarantee some relationship, the stress relief offered by yoga can ease that portion of your weight loss journey.

 

4. In addition to being good for your health for several reasons, simply learning yoga breathing and practicing it regularly can help you burn fat.

 

5. As you begin to progress in your ability to better perform yoga poses (asanas) you will notice a sense of control, of mastery of life and self, which will become more evident. This new inner strength will aid you in facing difficulties, including temptations concerning eating and your new eating behaviors. You will also find yourself more forgiving, not only of others, but of yourself as well, and when you slide a little, you will be better able to shrug it off and get back on your path to success.

 

6. With more progress in your yoga practice, you will begin to experience new feelings of health, strength, and well-being. These feelings will in turn motivate you to take even more control of your life so that you can continue your progress with no desire or temptation to return to the way things used to be.

 

Nothing is perfect for everyone, but, as you can see, the practice of yoga does have some benefits to offer which may make it valuable in the pursuit of healthy, permanent weight loss.
