In fact, some dieticians feel that it's better to eat many smaller meals a day rather than a few large ones. If you have an organized approach to your snacking, there's no reason why you can't maintain these habits but change the types or amounts of food you eat for maximum weight loss. In short, the personalized approach to dieting and weight loss makes sense because everyone is different, and everyone has different obstacles to overcome. When you buy a diet book, though, chances are that you will learn about a one-size-fits-all type of dieting.
If you go to one of the many centers that offers personalized diet plans, however, they will be able to design a plan for you that works with your eating style and habits, rather than against it. Combined with personalized counseling and regular weigh-ins, this approach to dieting has been very successful for many people. It's easier to minimize the harmful elements in our habits than it is to do away with the habits themselves.
That having been said, it's also important to have an organized, well laid out plan that you can follow. Many weight problems occur precisely because people don't tend to have an organized approach to eating. When your plan is easy to follow and you have access to great advice in a supportive environment, chances are that you will be able to take off that weight!

Weight Loss Diary 11
From March 11 thru 17
Back to reality this week with the shock news that my weight did not go down enough to report; probably no more than a few ounces (around 50 grams). Hence I'm sad to report that my weight still stands at 188 pounds (93 kilos). I guess I became a little too complacent after the better than expected results of the previous few weeks. This raises the big question of who, or what, is to blame?
As I live by the rule that I am responsible for all that goes wrong, as well as all that goes right, in my life then it stands to reason that I am to blame. Because I am to blame for a poor week then I know that it is within my power to turn that around in the coming week.
Really Heavy Life - This weeks weight loss diary could be the penultimate because after my Friday weigh-in I am down to 182.5 pounds (90.3 kilograms), just 2.5 pounds above my target figure.
Without using this as an excuse I have suffered a slight cold for the past week and have not been exercising at the rate I have become used to.
That's the great thing about accepting responsibility - you can always turn things around. People that avoid responsibility rarely turn things around. So what happened to the positive momentum? Exercise has been a major part of my calorie burn-off routine. This has been offset slightly by the fact that whilst feeling unwell I haven't eaten as much either. Probably this explains why my weight has remained the same rather than increasing; my calorie intake has been lower and I guess I reached the perfect balance of weight neutrality this week.
That's fine when my weight is where I want it to be but right now I still need to lose 8 pounds (3.9 kilos) to reach my target weight.
In this coming week I will not attempt to lose more than my target 1 pound (450 grams) because when you start playing catch up it throws the entire routine and places you under greater pressure. Psychologically it is better to accept that I did not reach my target last week and move on. This week nothing will change, my target is one pound, my exercise sessions will still be three per week and I will still strive to put more aerobic action into my normal day.

4. Inhale and stretch the right leg away from the body in a big backward step and keep the hands and left foot firmly on the ground. Bending the head backward the left knee should be between the hands.
5. Inhale and hold the breath. Move the left leg from the body and, keeping both feet together and the knees of the floor, rest on the hands (arms straight) and keep the body in a straight line from head to foot.
6. Exhale and lower the body to the floor. In this position, only 8 portions of the body come in contact with the floor: the two feet, two knees, two hands, chest and forehead.
7. Inhale and bend back as much as possible bending the spine to the maximum.
8. Exhale and lift the body of the floor. Keep the feet and heels on the floor.
9. Inhale and bring the right foot along the level of the hands; left foot and knee should touch the ground. Look up, bending the spine slightly (same position as #4)
10. Exhale and bring the left leg forward. Keep the knees straight and bring the head down to the knees as in the third position.
11. Raise the arms overhead and bend backward inhaling. As in Position 2.
12. Exhale and drop the arms and relax.
You have now completed one round. Perform as many rounds as possible in multiples of 3. Ideally you want to aim for 6 rounds minimum and up to a maximum of 30. It only takes about 5-10 minutes, depending on your speed and intensity and is best practiced with as little clothing as possible before an open air window first thing in the morning.

Falling in love with yourself is the ultimate gift. Before you can fall in love with another, you must fall in love with yourself. As Wayne Dyer says, "You cannot give away what you don't have for yourself." Keep remembering this. I believe this is the greatest opportunity for us to learn how to do. Did you know that there are some of my clients who have resistance in expressing love for themselves? When asked to say their name and then "I love you," they make the choice not to do it. Express the love for yourself right now by writing a love letter to you. Stop what you're doing and start writing about your characteristics, your talents.....Who are you? Okay, you can read this first and then write.
Our patterns of self-criticism (EGO) can be very apparent when trying to express love for ourselves. We can easily go to "I don't do this well. I can't do this. I should have done this. I am such a screw up." Let's create a new pattern of behavior which only represents the God within. Let's say instead: I bring joy to others! I always smile! I'm a great writer! I laugh a lot! I love me!
Let me tell you a little story. When I was in grade school, I had a classmate named Paul. Paul was such a great artist and I remember sitting in class watching him draw and was so envious of his talent. Of course, I attempted to draw and stick figures were the result. I was very frustrated thinking that I had no talent of any kind because I focused on what I didn't do well. I looked at others too and had those same thoughts wishing I could be like them. What I was really expressing is "I am nothing. I have nothing to offer."
It wasn't until many years later I realized that I'm a great writer, but hadn't considered this a talent until I changed the way I looked at me. It's always been fascinating to me how business, finance and weight loss parallel one another. Take a personal bank account for instance. If you add more to it than you take out of it, your account will grow bigger and bigger. The same is true with your body. If you put more into it through eating than you take out of it through activity it will grow bigger and bigger.
For example, if you are one of those people who just can't go without dessert, you will do better if your weight loss plan includes a daily dose of sweets. I've been an industrial engineer all my life and years ago I read a book that pertained to manufacturing by Dr. Eliyahu M. Goldratt, an Israeli physicist, entitled "The Theory of Constraints". The core idea in the Theory of Constraints is that every real system, such as a profit-making enterprise, must have at least one constraint.
If it were not true, then the system would produce an infinite amount of whatever it strives for. In the case of a profit-making enterprise, it would be infinite profits. Because a constraint is a factor that limits the system from getting more of whatever it strives for, then a business manager who wants more profits must manage the constraint. There really is no choice in the matter. Either you manage constraints or they manage you. The constraints will determine the output of the system whether they are acknowledged and managed or not.
There can be many constraints in a business but I found out in my engineering career there is usually a primary one. All constraints must be managed but by focusing the most attention on the primary one, whatever is being strived for will improve. Perfection is never achieved but improvement can be accomplished. It's a constant battle. Does The Theory of Constraints apply to weight loss? Absolutely! If there were no constraints to weight loss then none of us would be fat. Dieters can achieve improvement by focusing on their primary constraint the same as the business manager, even though all constraints must be managed.
It's a constant battle. So what is the primary constraint to weight loss? I think it's universal to all dieters. The cartoon character Pogo, by Walt Kelly, said it best. "We have met the enemy and he is us." Yep. The primary constraint to weight loss is between our ears. We prefer sitting on the couch and indulging in the pleasures of the moment rather than striving for what we would like to have in the future. As far as weight loss is concerned we might as well be hunting for unicorns or searching for pots of gold at the end of rainbows. We're just as likely to find them as to lose weight. Good information on weight loss is abundant but to lose weight you must become proactive. Knowledge is not enough. You've got to work on that primary constraint. You've got to get off that couch and DO SOMETHING. I wish you the best.
