If you are thinking about having weight loss surgery do so thoroughly. You may be anxious to get the surgery over and done with but it is a major change and your life will not be the same afterwards. Of course this sounds a little negative. The surgery does help a great number of people to change their habits and lose a lot of weight. Recovering From Your Weight Loss Surgery
When you are recovering from your weight loss surgery you will most likely be on a strict diet. Your diet will consist of three to four phases designed to get your new stomach working and back to digesting solid food. The first phase is right after surgery and for up to four days. This is the clear liquid foods phase. On liquids you will drink water, Gatorade, clear drink mixes, broth, Jell-O and any other clear fluids you can think of. It's important to sip something almost constantly during this time in order to help your body get enough liquids to heal and stay healthy.
Some may be very excited to be able to start on something more filling or some may find that their new stomach makes odd squelches at the thought. Everyone is different and will start on the next phase at a different point. The full liquids are shakes, and breakfast drinks and any other non-clear liquids that you can think of. You may be on the full liquids diet for a couple of weeks.
The next two phases are often thought of in one group but really it's the pureed foods phase and the soft foods phase. In pureed foods your doctor or nutritionist may suggest that you try eating baby food to see if you like it. Also you can puree things to make drinks with a shake like consistency. The important thing is to introduce your stomach to more foods but still work to make it as easy as possible for you to digest. In soft foods phase your prescription will be for foods that are easy to mush up in your mouth. This things can be mashed potatoes, oatmeal, scrambled eggs and so on.
Every day people talk with me about my book, The Tortoise Diet, and about their own experiences with weight loss. Lately I've noticed a common thread in these conversations. What I hear over and over again is that people feel so overwhelmed and overloaded by the daily demands on their time and energy that they become immobilized. They want to improve their health and lose weight, but tell me they just don't know how to get started.
Whenever people tell me they just don't know how to begin, I encourage them to focus their energies on learning to practice two new habits: 1) eating small, frequent meals containing healthy food choices and 2) drinking water on a regular basis throughout the day. Let's discuss how to best approach both of these new habits.
Don't worry at this time about following a calorie-specific menu plan; just select a healthy breakfast that is something you really like from one of the suggested menu plans found in Appendix A of The Tortoise Diet - Win the Race to Lose! Get that breakfast ready the evening before so it is ready to grab in the morning to either eat before leaving home or take in the car.
Also the evening before, prepare two simple snacks to have in the mid-morning and the mid-afternoon the next day:
an apple plus some almonds
a part-skim mozzarella cheese stick plus an orange
no-sugar / non-fat pudding plus some chopped fruit
Suggestion #4: 2
wedges low-fat "Laughing Cow" cheese plus Ak Mak or WASA crackers
Suggestion #5: 1
slice whole-grain bread plus 1 TBS peanut butter
Suggestion #6: Make a quick quesadilla with 1 whole-wheat tortilla topped with 1 oz low-fat cheddar. Melt the cheese a little and top with salsa, chopped onion and a spoonful of non- fat sour cream
a bowl of Minestrone, Split Pea, White Bean or Lentil soup
Suggestion #8: 7-10
reduced-fat Triscuits plus 2 low-fat cheddar slices
Also select a healthy lunch from the menu plans that is something you really like to eat. Get this ready the evening before so it is ready to grab to take with you in the morning. In the morning, take a bottle of water in the car and begin to sip on it as you commute to work. If you work from home, fill a big bottle with water and put it in the refrigerator or on the counter. Make it a habit to try to drink at least 8 oz of water about an hour prior to each meal throughout the day.
For now, after dinner each evening drink only water or herbal tea. Remember to include foods you really enjoy - there is no need to feel deprived all of the time! Try to eat a meal or snack approximately every three hours throughout the day, so you won't ever feel experience ravenous hunger. Drink a big glass of water about an hour before each meal and whenever you begin to feel a little twinge of hunger. Learning to practice these two simple, yet very important, new and healthy habits is a fairly manageable way to get started on your journey toward improved health and permanent weight loss.
Fat Loss And Weight Loss-Do They Mean It?
Health is the wealth. Due to development in the field of science, we have simplified our day-to-day work with the help of machines. The victim here is our health. Energy spent is less as we can do strenuous tasks by just pressing the button. But we never tried to reduce the intake. This results in excess energy intake. This excess energy is stored in the body in the form of fat. Hence our weight increases so also the susceptibility to various life threatening ailments. If you want remain healthy and live longer fat loss [weight loss] is the only remedy.
Our body is composed of water, muscle, bone and other organs. Besides this fat is the other important component of the body. The body fat can be classified as fat that is essential and fat that is for storage. Essential fat as the name suggests is most important component of the body and these fats can be seen in muscles, central nervous system, bone marrow and other organs like liver and kidney.
The excess energy intake is converted in to fat and stored in the body as storage fat. Storage fats can be seen under the skin, in the muscle and in specific areas of the body. It is not bad to have some quantity of storage fat in the body. The storage fat functions like insulator [conserves the body temperature], and serves as a source of energy at the time of the poor intake. We must lose this excess fat. This kind of fat loss is must for the healthy normal functioning of the body as we discussed already. While trying for fat loss we should keep in mind that neither too much fat nor too little fat is healthy.
Many people who want to reduce their weight may think why should we know about the body fat? And why should we calculate the body fat? The reason for measuring the body fat is that it is the realistic measurement of fitness of our body. Fat loss is nothing but weight loss. Body mass index is an indicator of the health and fitness of the body. The big disadvantage of the body mass index is that it may conclude that you are overweight. But your body fat may be normal. When the body fat is normal, your health is perfect though you are overweight. Hence body fat calculation is the best method to assess your fitness.
Like the quantity of the fat, the distribution of the fat is also important factor in determining the fitness of the body. Extra fat stored in the hip region is more harm full than the fat stored in buttocks and thighs. Hence fat loss from the hip region is highly preferable. In most cases if the person loses weight by following a perfect, safe, risk free weight loss or fat loss program, he will lose only body fat not the muscle. At times along with fat loss, some quantity of the muscle also will be lost. However the fat loss will be much more than the muscle loss, which is highly desirable. Some people due urgency and ignorance may follow bad diet and wrong diet pills to reduce weight. Those people will be losing body water instead of body fat. As the result there will not be any fat loss, which is of no use as far as the health and fitness of the person concerned.

There are many different reasons why someone may want to lose weight, but it's a pretty safe bet that almost everybody will want to at some point in their lives. Like in many other aspects of life, the key to achieving your goal lies in proper planning and execution.

Everybody is different. We all have different lifestyles, schedules and abilities, and it's important that this is kept in mind when approaching weight loss hypnosis. Before you actually begin trying to lose the weight, you must decide on a realistic plan that is right for you. The worst thing you can do is set a plan that is difficult to achieve. If, for example, you're an extremely busy working parent, don't create a plan for yourself that entails listening to your weight loss hypnosis 4 times a day, as chances are you're going to fail, which will only end up making you feel worse about yourself.
Every weight loss attempt should ideally compose both dietary changes and an increase in exercise. Weight loss hypnosis can make dieting much easier than you had imagined but you do have to make a conscious effort to change your lifestyle while practicing your hypnosis sessions. When looking at your diet, do some research and come up with some healthy meal ideas that you don't normally eat. Plan to eat these new meals on a regular basis. You want to break your plan into as many small steps as possible, so that you provide yourself with many small, achievable goals. For example, you may decide to research your new meal on Monday, buy the ingredients on Tuesday, and make it on Wednesday.
Not only does this split the work up - if you leave it all to one day it's far more likely you won't have the time to do it - but it creates a constant sense of accomplishment. When listening to your weight loss hypnosis cd or mp3, think of the changes you have decided on to enhance the power of the affirmations. Doing this also personalizes your practice and focuses your mind more solidly on your goal. At least half the battle with weight loss hypnosis is one of discipline: as anyone who has been on a diet or exercise regimen will tell you, it's easy to start a diet but hard to stick with it. The worst thing you can do when doing weight loss hypnosis is to set yourself up for failure, as this is a cycle that tends to repeat itself. By creating and executing a well thought out and realistic plan, you give yourself a huge advantage in your ultimate goal of weight loss.
