Why do you want to lose weight?

Almost everything that we do aim to modify the way we feel. We really determine our future the moment we take a firm decision. I won't accept that we deny what I am." To take a real decision, is to engage yourself to obtain a precise result and to refuse any other possibility. Understand that what is most difficult, when we want to accomplish something, is to take a firm engagement, a real decision. The tough part with exercise is getting out there and doing it. Exercise has to become one of your priorities. You have to make time for it. You have to find a passion. If you don't like what you're doing, you won't do it. Set a goal. Try to improve your times or lift more weight.
Put on more muscle through resistance training. The muscle burns more calories around the clock. Eventually, the workouts that once invigorated you now leave you feeling blah! You have to reinvent yourself and change the way you do things. These tips will help you stay motivated. Train for an event, or pretend you are Split your routine up so that you work your upper body and lower body on different days. Hit the hills, you'll burn almost 25% more calories. Try a different exercise for every muscle group. Hire a personal trainer. Change the number of sets you are doing, every 2 to 4 weeks, increasing the weight as you decrease the repetitions. Use a heart rate monitor and gauge you progress. Add intervals to your cardio. Alternate 2 minutes of high intensity exercise with 1 minute of lower intensity. Use heavier weights. You need to get to the point where you can absolutely not do another repetition. Try a new routine. Have someone help you in the gym. Join a team.
Count to 10 when you lift the weight, and to 5 when you lower it again. It can increase your strength by almost 50%. Try Yoga or Pilates. These disciplines force you to move your body in a different way, which also build stronger abdominals and back muscle. Exercise should be a part of your life, like eating, drinking and breathing. You should aim to make your daily exercise routine a normal daily occurrence. 5 ways to fight plateaus Vary your weights Change the order of your exercises Vary the angles of your lunges Add cardio to your weight workouts Instead of a circuit, do a series of supersets. Perform each move back-to-back with a move that emphasizes the same muscles.

Learning what to eat is half the mission getting to your ideal weight and staying there. You must also develop new eating habits that become your eating character. Managing your weight is a lifestyle, it's someone you become, and not something you try. Set your goals Too many times, people are focused on getting started and no on what the finish will be. If you don't know what you want or what you are doing, you will be less likely to go where you want to go. If you don't have a picture of what you want in your mind, you will be less motivated. Setting the right goal can help you get there if you're passionate about what you want and understand why you want it. Start by writing down a goal that is specific and realistic, and then devise a plan that covers tactics for overcoming obstacles. To keep yourself motivated, include short-term goals that are within reach.
You must define your goals in positive terms. Write down what you want to happen not what you don't want. Be as precise as possible. You have to be able to know if you've reached your goals. You have to know exactly what you will look like and what you will feel. You have to know that you've finally made it. Keep the situation in hand. You must not wait until you are happy or until things change by themselves. Make sure that your goals only concern the things you are able to take action on and in control. Eat more often The most difficult part of any weight loss program is dealing with food cravings. You can prevent cravings by eating enough throughout the day. Break your meals down into 5 or 6 small ones. Eat nutrient-dense foods Fat burning compatible foods are high in fiber, high in water content, and low in sugar and fat. The idea is to consume foods that are as close to their natural state as possible.
The right foods to include are: Lean proteins (chicken, turkey, fish, sea food, lean meats) Fresh fruits and vegetables Beans and legumes Unsalted, oil-free nuts and seeds Whole grains cereals (whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta, brown rice, couscous) The wrong foods to avoid are: Foods and beverages with sugar White flour, white pasta, white bread, and white rice Chips, cookies, bakeries, chocolate and candies Processed foods containing saturated fat, trans fat or hydrogenated oils Foods that sugar or fat appears first or second on the list of ingredients. No matter where the calories come from, eating more than you burn will make you gain weight. Some foods are easier to overeat though. High-energy-density foods, that have little fiber or water content, take up very little stomach space. Bust the cycle of overeating We often overeat because we are emotionally hungry. That emotional hunger draws us into a cycle, in which emotions trigger overeating, which in turn triggers more stress, depression, boredom, fear, loneliness and emotional emptiness.
And so the cycle continues. You have to understand why you overeat, then use the appropriate strategy to get your brain and your body on the same healthy path. Here are some solutions, when you're on an urge to eat: Move. Go for a walk or a run or jump rope for 60 seconds. Ride it out. Create a distraction. Call a friend, take a bath, read a book, listen to music. Eat something other than bad foods. Eat a small amount of healthful food. Talk to yourself. Ask "Am I really hungry?" When you discover a distraction or strategy that helps you cope with externally triggered eating, note it on a list, and refer to this list the next time. Eat satisfying food. Instead of filling up on junk, eat healthful, nourishing foods that please your palate. Stop eating when you're full. After a binge, reflect on what contributed to it. Discover nonfood ways to cope. Before you start binging, ask yourself: "Is that what I really need?"

This really made a powerful impact. Everything you are today is because of your thoughts and your decisions that you have made as a result of those thoughts. In the book, If You Think You Can, the word decision comes from the Latin root meaning "to cut off from." "There comes a time in every person's life when making a decision is truly necessary. A decision where you thought so deeply in what you want that there is no option for turning back."
Make the decision today to gain your power back and lose the weight. The answers are within you. Keep focused on your goal. Surround yourself with people who will support your decision and release those who won't. Give up the lifestyle that supported your weight gain. See the weight as a gift to you so that you will be conscious in becoming all you can be. We all get off track and the weight becomes a reminder that you want something different, something more meaningful. Again, it's very simple. To quote Wayne Dyer, "Surround yourself with the conditions you want to produce."
Who are the people you are going to surround yourself?
Who are the people you are going to have limited contact?
Who are the people you are going to let go?

Us the diet and exercise industry have our opinions on what diets work and which ones are just sales gimmicks. I believe this can be very discouraging to you the consumer. Unfortunately, a lot of people want to get on the band wagon of wellness and tap into millions of Americans desperate need to feel better, lose weight and get in better shape.

Step #1: Get over your hang-ups!
Why is it so hard for me to start exercising? I know it's good for me. It seems like I have some form of resistance to getting in better shape.
"Exercise Resistance" or ER means a conscious or unconscious block against participating in a regular active program. Studies show that some people have barriers built up from past experiences that give them a negative mindset toward exercise and food. In many cases, this prevents a person from starting or following through on an exercise program.
I thought the golden years were supposed to be filled with relaxing things to do, not more activities I usually put off before?
Building up resentment toward exercise goes much deeper than just not liking the effort it takes to do it. Resentment brings out a rebellious attitude in us. The sooner you accept the fact that exercise is going to have to be a part of the rest of your life, the more likely you will start -- the more likely you will continue exercising. Resentment is usually fueled by his cousins: Denial, Pride and Laziness. The best thing to do is never let them play together. Resentment is a form of pride.
The only failure is not starting. Success is not measured in numbers. It is measured in your growth through the process. Just because your track record may show some ups and downs has no bearing on your future efforts. Plus, your self-worth is not based on how many times you started an exercise program. Fear of failure is an excuse to never try.
If you think for one second that you are going to be perfect in sticking to a plan, forget it. It's not possible for anyone. The truth is you will never be perfect. Perfectionism is an illusion.
You will always compare your results to something or someone. Once you hit a goal there will always be another one. You may even be the type that no matter what you do, it will never be good enough. If you are this type, stop for a minute and listen to your body. Comparing yourself to others and your past is a losing battle.
If your expectations are too high, you set yourself up for failure and then begin comparing yourself to others. In some cases, ER sets in before you even start. This is hurtful. Setting expectations that are too high is self-defeating before you even start. Step #2: Change your false beliefs about food, exercise and life.
Getting to the ROOT of the matter
To change unwanted behaviors, it's important to acknowledge your thinking toward exercise and eating. A lot of people believe they know what that thinking is, but haven't come to grips with their core beliefs. In other words, they have to get to the "root of the matter." In order to change your attitude toward exercise and food, you have to understand the WHYs of the behavior.
You are going to have to dig deep, find the root of the problem, nurture and understand it.
Your BELIEF system
The reason you have certain behaviors is based on the core beliefs of your value system. It is here--inside--where things need to be addressed. Beliefs form barriers that stop you from starting or following through on a regular exercise and eating program. In order to change attitudes toward exercise you have to check under the surface.
It takes time, effort, and energy, and in some cases, outside professional assistance to get to the TRUTH of the matter…to see what is below, admit it is there and bring it up to the surface. If you have a hard time following through on an eating plan, chances are barriers have formed, and stop you from smooth sailing.
Do the math! Numbers do not lie. You either accept the road less traveled or you face the consequences. It's just that simple. This may resemble a scare tactic, but the bottom line is this is the reality. If you think for one second you are exempt, above reproach, or just relying on luck or faith, think again. Your best defense is a good offense.
