For most of your life, you probably have eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner. Now depending on your eating habits, this may be okay...but many people skip breakfast because they don't have the time, they have a semi-normal lunch and then a large dinner. Avoid this at all costs...
When you wake up, your body is screaming for food- it's been many hours since you last ate. By skipping breakfast, you're depriving your body of the nutrients it needs and forcing it to go into hibernation mode- this slows down your metabolism. Dinner should be your lightest meal of the day because your metabolism is slowest in the evening...yet for many people, it's their largest.
That being said...
The ideal eating schedule is to have a small, healthy meal every 2-3 hours (healthy sandwich, protein shake, peanut butter, fruit, healthy fats, whole grains, nuts etc). Your body isn't made for digesting huge portions of food. By eating small meals every 2-3 hours, you keep your metabolism at top speed and your digestive system healthy.
And it really isn't all that difficult. Go out and buy nutrition bars (but pay close attention to the ingredients- Kashi bars are great)...buy good fat like peanut butter and almonds...fruit like apples and berries...lean meats like chicken and turkey...whole grains breads- these are all foods you can bring to work with you. It's what I do every day so I know it's possible.
This will keep your metabolism at top speed, your digestive system healthy and your body in peak performance. If this is completely impossible for you, then make sure your breakfast is your biggest and most nutritious meal of the day, lunch your second largest, and dinner your smallest. And don't forget to drink water!
Try this for a month or two...combine it with a good exercise plan and the right nutritional supplements and you'll be amazed at how great you feel.

You are the GREATEST, aren't you? You are focusing on you and attracting all the wonderful things you deserve. You are enlightened about your Divinity as God only creates the Divine. Think thoughts of abundance and be amazed at what shows up for you. Referring to Lesson #2 will help you as it is all about clearing your thoughts to keep you focused on the positives. This is your year. It's all about you and being the person you want to be. I have my own sign that people bought me that I put on my refrigerator: It's All About Me! You have achieved your weight loss goals. Remember to think of it in terms that it has already happened because the brain does not know the difference between what is real and what is imagined. This is exactly what athletes do!
Wayne Dyer has an interesting cell phone message that he created. It goes something like this: You have reached Wayne Dyer and I want to feel good. If your message is designed to do anything other than make me feel good, you have reached the wrong number. Pretty powerful, right? You can create these same conditions. Surround yourself with positive people, positive experiences and keep doing those daily affirmations. If you find that you're attracting something that you don't want, then step back and look at your thoughts and ask "Why am I attracting this?"
This particular lesson I want to focus on having a great relationship with an ex-spouse or ex-significant other. Some of you may be in this position or know someone who is, and I'm here to tell you that it is possible!! We want to feel good, don't we?
A few years ago my ex-husband and I decided to end our marriage and begin our lives as single people. We don't look at our marriage as a failure, but rather as something that we attracted because we had lessons to learn and we showed up for each other to learn those valuable lessons. It took a few short months for us to work through anger and hurt, but we have transcended those negative emotions. I could truly not exist with having anger towards him. That would keep me stuck and hold things in my body and "I want to feel good!" I have forgiven him, and more importantly, I have forgiven myself. We have a wonderful relationship as friends, and I am grateful to him for the lessons he taught me. One of the lessons he taught me was to stand up for myself. I became my mom as she experienced the same lesson with my dad. In all of us we carry DNA patterns and Rapid Eye Technology is wonderful for clearing these patterns.
I recently took my ex-husband out to dinner for his birthday and people would be baffled by our conversation. We talked about our dating experiences and did a lot of belly laughing as a result. He has been dating for much longer than I have and so had more to share. Nonetheless, we could truly be happy for each other and want the best for each other as well.
If you're intent is to feel good, but you're still holding on to anger, how can you accomplish that goal? Get out lesson #5 which focuses on forgiveness. I'm including a visualization exercise from Louise Hay, You Can Heal Your Life. I extend gratitude to Louise as she has helped me more than she can ever possibly know.
Here's the exercise. Have someone read this to you or put it on tape and listen to it so you can close your eyes and truly act as if they are in the room with you.
"Begin to visualize yourself as a little child of five or six. Look deeply into this little child's eyes. See the longing that is there and realize that there is only one thing this little child wants from you, and that is love. So reach out your arms and embrace this child. Hold hi/her with love and tenderness. Tell him/her how much you love him/her, how much you care. Admire everything about this child and say that it's okay to make mistakes while learning. After all, mistakes are God's way of saying choose a different path. Promise that you will always be there no matter what. Now let this child get very small, until he/she is just the size to fit into your heart. Put him/her there so whenever you look down, you can see this little face looking up at you, and you can give him/her lots of love.
Now imagine your father as a little boy of three or four, frightened, crying and looking for love. See the tears rolling down his face when he doesn't know where to turn. You have become good at comforting frightened little children, so reach out your arms and hold his trembling little body. Comfort him. Let him feel how much you love him. Let him feel that you will always be there for him.
When his tears are dry, and you feel the love and peace in his little body, let him get very small, just the size to fit into your heart. Put him there so those three little children can give each other lots of love and you can love them all."
I'm going to now add your ex-spouse or ex-significant other to this visualization.
Now picture your ex-spouse or ex-significant other as a little child of four or five, frightened and looking for love and not knowing where to find it. He/she is so scared and cries for someone to love him/her. You reach out your arms and in that loving, comforting way hold him/her close to you. Let him/her know you will always be there. Dry his/her tears and let him/her get very small, just the size to fit into your heart. Put him/her there so all of you children can be comforted and give each other lots of love.

"There is so much love in your heart that you could heal the entire planet. But just for now let us use this love to heal you. Feel a warmth beginning to glow in your heart center, a softness, a gentleness. Let this feeling begin to change the way you think and talk about yourself."
Remember, according to Marianne Williamson, "All behavior is either a call or love or extension of love." Extend love to yourself and then to all those around you, including your ex's. It will be remarkable how you feel and then manifest wonderful things as a result. Holding on to anger serves no purpose, other than to create destructive things in your body like extra weight. Remember, your intent is to feel good. When you feel good, you feel God!!

Clearly defining what it is that you want is where it all starts and Weight Loss is no different! Now visualize your mother as a little girl of four or five, frightened and looking for love and not knowing where to find it. Enjoy the trip, but know where you're going, it's easier to get there! Brushing your teeth, washing your hair, 'showing up' at work regularly and sleeping are all habitual rituals, they are daily practices that promote or provide either assurance, insurance, functionality or the opportunity to continue to have or use something that you probably want to keep... Stop doing these rituals and decay, breakdown or unemployment occurs, which just causes a downward spiral of unpleasant events.
Although this sounds a bit funny, the reality is your body functions or DIS-functions in the same way, practice daily effective, proactive rituals and ta...da... you either attain, maintain or achieve the object or objective desired. Exercise and nutrition are often perplexing topics, usually shrouded in mystery, but need not be. Knowledge and application of knowledge are not the same thing; they are quite separate and distinct. Knowing how to do something and doing it is where the line is drawn and having an intention, coupled with an objective acts as the proverbial driver behind the wheel...and placing intention into the subconscious mind is like stepping on the gas pedal, which in turn produces action or OBJECTIVE.
Can you remember when you were young and wanted something so bad that nothing else mattered? That thing that drove you was desire and if you actually did get that 'object' of desire, well that was intention that propelled you to go out and get or "receive" that object. Goals or objectives motivate and generate oomph, you know...that get-up-and-go, they are the steam that wakes you up, gets you to work, helps you focus and aids in the process of achievement. Emotion married to objective is fuel for accomplishment. Develop a sense of purpose, a reason why and combine that purpose with your desire and your emotionally stimulated intention, put this desire, intention and purpose in writing and since we're talking about Weight Loss, this could be that desire. With laser-focused accuracy, picture a 'clear-vision' of how you see yourself in 'fighting' condition, we call this "visualizing" and remain focused using all of these components and guess what... It will happen...
Yes, time patience, persistence, effort and action are required, but you will reap what you sow, it is an unfailing fact. Positive reinforcement, now this is the next phase... Any suggestion that you plant into your subconscious mind is used, if it's negative.... Negative results, if it's positive... Positive results! If you know what to do, but you can't seem to get yourself to do it, you've probably been giving negative or conflicting messages to your subconscious mind. The behaviors that are produced by subconscious conditioning are more commonly referred to as habits. Fortunately, you can re-program your subconscious mind with positive instructions and become a creature of positive habit, just as easily as you can become a victim of negative habits. It all begins with a conscious decision and written objectives.
Attention to intention
The mind... It's a terrible thing...to waste that is! I am always stunned at the similarities that we all share and on the flip-side, stunned at how different we are. So simple, yet so complex...and when it comes to the exercising of our mental capacities, well this is where some have signs of mastery and others, as if a sleeping giant lies dormant! I have worked with thousands of people through the years and what is remarkable is in all the training and nutrition programs I've designed for such unique purposes, almost all of them fall into similar distinctive mind-sets, either they possess the desire and intent to accomplish something great; or they feel that they are losing something that they want badly enough to keep!
The sine qua non or upshot is, if you want to get in amazing shape, all you really have to do is make up your mind and "intend" to accomplish your objective. You build that body of your desire by setting goals and focusing your attention on them. Setting into motion this attentive intent is the positive action required to impel you on-ward and up-ward. Exercise and eating right are only two components in the matrix of this program and in all honesty, if you don't properly tune that focus 'in', the best of programs or intentions will not eliminate the natural tendency to 'bail-out' before success has arrived. Self defeat is the 'killer-of-giants', where success is concerned. The whole concept of setting goals and having objectives to aspire to works because it activates the mechanism of the all-powerful subconscious mind, which in-turn activates the application of intention, which as you might of guessed... produces results.
Success The theme here is to take control of your own mind; success will be found when you become proactive about your 'destination' and take the proper steps required to 'arrive'. It is truly about the tremendous power of self-control and self-reliance. These are inner resources, which you already possess, which you have always possessed. You may not have realized that you have these abilities, but they are there, as latent as they may be...they are there! You may not have used them or you may have underemployed them, it's not uncommon.
Change can happen, but first you must decide that change is what you indeed want and move with reckless abandon toward that change. With all the necessary tools and the proper mindset in place and in proper form you can achieve anything and I mean anything! So, get ready to succeed and to live a life of true conviction and purpose. The Scottish essayist Thomas Carlyle wrote, "Have a purpose in life, and throw yourself into your work with all the strength of mind and muscle as God has given." Beautiful! Weight loss can be a difficult goal to achieve. Some inhibitors include poor planning, low motivation, and lack of knowledge. These can be over come easily. Other conditions may be a bit more difficult to compete with.
Pain can inhibit your ability to excersize either a little or it can inhibit it completely. If you plan on exercising and are experiencing pain, use a little common sense: If it hurts to do it, don't do it. Sometimes your pain can be a symptom of years of inactivity and starting slow and easy is preferred. In other cases you may want to consult a physical therepist.
This will require that you see a doctor and get the proper medications. Low thyroid or underactive thyroid will cause a low metabolism. Most of us are aware that the metabolism dictates how much energy your body burns. A doctor can work with you and help you find the exact amount of medication required to balance your thyroid activity. Some exercises can help balance your thyroid. Consult a physical therapist for help with the exercises.
Unfortunately diabetes and overweight conditions go hand in hand. Most people who have diabetes are overweight and need to monitor their blood-sugar levels. If insulin levels are too high it will promote weight gain. It is highly recommended you work with your doctor closely when using insulin to regulate blood-sugar levels. If you use diet and exercise to control your blood-sugar levels you will achieve your goals more readily.
If you are having trouble reaching your weight loss goals, it may be attributable to the Prescription Medications you are taking. Some medications that contain steroids will cause you to gain some weight. Other medications like anti-seizure drugs and psychotropic drugs may also inhibit your weight loss efforts. Work with your doctor to find a medication that will do the job needed without obstructing your weight loss goals.

Sallie Elizabeth has always had large breasts and a big bottom, and she has accepted them as part of her genetic makeup. But when cellulite appeared in the back of her upper leg, she "freaked out" and resolved to do something about it.
A friend recommended endermologie, a deep massage treatment using a motorized device with two adjustable rollers and controlled suction. The device is said to improve the look of cellulite by gently folding and unfolding the skin for smooth and regulated deep-tissue movement.
The cellulite is "less visible," she says, noting her smoother, softer skin. "I feel healthier. My circulation has improved ... and I feel more relaxed."
To keep up the effects, the 20-something model visits Smooth Synergy, a cosmedical spa in Manhattan, once or twice a week for 35-minute sessions with the endermologie machine and a technician.
Elizabeth may be enjoying her cellulite-busting experience, but experts raise eyebrows at many tools or treatments purported to reduce the appearance of cellulite, trim fat in specific areas, shed pounds, or build muscle, particularly if they claim to replace exercise and good nutrition.
"They're a waste of money," says Richard Cotton, a spokesman for the American Council on Exercise and chief exercise physiologist for myexerciseplan.com.
If that is the case, then a sizeable chunk of currency could be going down the drain. According to a Federal Trade Commission (FTC) weight loss advertising trend report, in the year 2000 alone, consumers spent an estimated $34.7 billion on weight-loss products and programs.
While it is not known how much of that accounts for sales of unproven or fraudulent merchandise, an FTC study of weight loss ads from different media shows that nearly 40% of ads make at least one false claim, and an additional 15% make at least one claim that is very likely false, or lacks proof.
To add to the number soup: Results from a national health survey conducted between 1999 and 2000 indicate that more than six out of every 10 Americans are overweight or obese, a figure that has increased dramatically in recent years.
Another recent survey that looked at the attitudes of Americans adults toward their own weight found that despite the fact that two-thirds of men were considered overweight, only about half (51%) said they wanted to lose weight versus 68% of women who said they wanted to lose weight.
6. Do something now. Action often precedes and stimulates attitude and motivation. Eat some healthy snacks, read a useful article, or get out and take a walk. Do anything, however small, towards your weight loss goals. Momentum is created by taking any step in the right direction.
Put it all together and there are arguably more people wanting to use weight loss products, and according to the government's trend report, the "marketplace has responded with a proliferating array of products and services, many promising miraculous, quick-fix remedies."
There are, indeed, numerous therapies, including weight loss programs and dietary supplements. Then there are the popular treadmills, bun and ab rollers, the body bow, and bun and thigh max.
For this piece, however, WebMD looked only into passive exercise devices such as electrical muscle stimulators and toning tables, cellulite reduction therapies, and gels, creams, eyeglasses, earrings and similar doodads marketed for weight loss, and muscle-building. Granted, not all remedies may be the same, but health professionals say far too many of them can't be trusted.
Passive Weight Loss
To Elizabeth's credit, she tries to eat right, jog, do Pilates, and perform squats to supplement her endermologie sessions. In fact, good nutrition and regular physical activity are recommended with the treatment.
However, many weight loss, cellulite-busting, and muscle-building products promise results without having to do too much. "It's the idea that an individual can get to the body size they want without any increase in physical activity or without any change in eating," says Jennifer Anderson, PhD, RD, professor and extension specialist at Colorado State University's department of food science and human nutrition. She simply laughs at appetite-suppressing eyeglasses, weight loss patches and chewing gum, toning gels, fat-melting creams, and evening solutions that claim to trim waistlines during sleep.
"In some instances, it's a total gimmick," says Anderson. "In other instances, it will reduce a lot of water weight quickly, but it's never going to change eating behaviors, activity levels, and make that the key to their lifestyle." This quick water weight loss never leads to real, long-term weight loss, says Anderson, noting that the only weight loss and toning plan that works involves eating well and moving your body.
Furthermore, she says there is no proof that cellulite can be massaged away or taken out by injections of vitamins, special underwear, or use of other gizmos. To get rid of the dimpled fat, weight must be shed, and skin made firmer by doing strength training. Francie M. Berg, a licensed nutritionist, and founder of the Healthy Weight Network, agrees. "If you want to tone your body or become more fit, you need to do the work. It's not lying on a table, and having [a gadget] lift your feet," she says referring to no-effort toning tables, beds, and machines.
The value of toning and weight loss equipment depends on how much work you can get a person to do to burn energy, says Berg, pointing out that when people see desired results with normally passive devices and treatments, it's usually because they've also made efforts to eat well or exercise.
Truth With A Twist
Berg coordinates the Task Force on Weight Loss Abuse for the National Council Against Health Fraud, which gives out annual Slim Chance Awards to selected weight loss products. This year's "worst gimmick" prize went out to MagnaSlim, which claims to relieve stress and its byproduct of overeating by placing magnets and a magnetized solution at specific acupuncture points. The magnet at the acupressure point would supposedly improve cell function, restore Chi (life force energy), and give a person more control over what they put in their mouths.
Weight loss promoters have long cashed in on the concept of acupressure and magnetic therapy for weight loss, even though there is no proof it works, says Berg. Items using similar concepts on the market include magnetic weight-loss earrings, adhesives, beads, and seeds.
It is apparently not uncommon for manufacturers to piggyback on ideas and studies that may have genuine validity, and twist them for commercial purposes. Another example would be the electrical muscle stimulators (EMS) promoted to do anything from slough off weight to tone muscle to form six-pack abs. Some ads claim this is possible without exercise. Health experts scoff at such an idea, but do say EMS is a valuable tool for physical therapy. "There are times when that really helps," says Anderson, pointing to rehabilitation programs for people with physical injuries or stroke-related debilitation.
"The problem I have with it is if it's being marketed as muscle stimulation, and that will help you tone up and lose weight," says Anderson. "Well, it probably will help you tone a little bit, but it shouldn't take place of being more active and looking at how many calories we put in our mouth each day." Gad Alon, PhD, associate professor in the department of physical therapy and rehabilitation science at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, has studied the effects of EMS, and many promoters often refer to his research in peddling their wares.
He says many of these marketers misuse his work, saying things like, "Seven physicians at the University of Maryland have concluded that you may never have to do sit-ups again." First of all, says Alon, there were no physicians present for the studies; he and his students conducted the studies, and they never addressed the topic of weight loss.
Alon warns, though, that some EMS devices in the market might not have the proper specifications to work properly. He says they may use electrodes that do not have good conductivity, or some may be too small to cover large muscle areas.
The Damage and what to do with it
Some of the weight loss gadgets may seem too good to be true, yet even smart people fall for them. Why are people so willing to believe these quick and easy schemes?
"Hope springs eternal," says Edward Abramson, PhD, a clinical psychologist, and author of Emotional Eating: What You Need to Know Before Starting Another Diet. He says people are always looking for a shortcut, especially for difficult, ongoing problems.
Besides losing money on bunk products, however, consumers could get their hopes dashed. Abramson says repeated disappointments with weight loss could undermine a person's overall sense of well-being. He says some people could even internalize blame to a point that could lead to eating disorders.
Berg adds that false weight loss systems and goods could also prevent people from seeking real treatment, interfere with responsible programs that do work, and promote distrust of the medical community. To avoid falling prey to such schemes, the FDA says consumers should be particularly skeptical of claims containing words like easy, effortless, guaranteed, miraculous, magical, breakthrough, new discovery, mysterious, exotic, secret, exclusive, and ancient. The experts interviewed by WebMD also recommend concentrating on weight-management strategies that are proven to work, such as incorporating a balanced diet with reduced calories with a regular exercise regimen. Some tips include:
Eat more fruits and vegetables. Foods high in fiber such as whole grain breads, fruit, and cereal can help you feel full longer. Exercise. Get 30 minutes of physical activity a day even if you must split it in 10-minute increments throughout the day. Try to exercise on most days of the week; choose an activity you enjoy. Start slowly and then add more days as tolerated.
Be accepting. Accept your body the way it is. Maintain. Instead of having a goal to lose weight, think of not gaining it, says Anderson. Be aware of your mind and body while you exercise. Cotton says it helps not to read magazines or watch TV while working out. "When you're present, you're better able to make decisions about your habits ... and your true needs," he says.

Weight loss specialists will tell you that attitude has a more powerful effect on losing weight than all other factors. The best plan out there won't cut it, if you don't follow it, and that can be a matter of attitude and motivation. Here are some tips to help you change your thinking and acting:
1. Never dwell on "failures." Look at failures honestly, and then tell yourself, "This setback is temporary - here's what I'll do differently next time."
2. Look at setbacks as opportunities. Problems and temporary failures provide a chance to learn how to do it better. Use them as steps towards success.
3. Think in terms of solutions, not problems. "I have such a hard time resisting temptation," becomes, "When have I resisted, and what can I learn from that experience?" Reaching for the convenient junk food isn't a problem, but a lesson: Don't let it be convenient.
4. See success, both your own and other's. Noticing even a little progress reminds you what is possible, and it keeps you motivated. This is a powerful way to stay on track. Little successes give the motivation for bigger ones.
5. Imagine yourself how you want to be. When you see yourself how you want to be repeatedly, this gets your subconscious mind working towards that image. Do this often.
