Best Skin Care Products: Wrinkle-Free For Life

Well it is no surprise that most people will avoid having wrinkles like the plague, unfortunately the sad truth is that many people who experience wrinkles in their lifetimes, in fact, could've prevented it by following some very simple guidelines For instance, during the summertime and when the sun is out and is in full-blown effect, you should always make sure to protect your skin from the sun by always wearing sunscreen. If you are trying to get tan, consider "tan in a can" solutions in conjunction with exfoliators to get a natural looking tan without risking wrinkles and worse yet, skin cancer.

It is generally shown that weight loss can also help prevent the onset of wrinkles.

Usually people who are a bit overweight may experience the folds in the skin that would be very hard to get rid of down the road. The best bet is to simply try to stay healthy and live a good life which provides benefits well-beyond preventing just wrinkles of course Other than that you should periodically check out the latest beauty magazines or television shows to check out some of the latest cutting edge ways in which to prevent them from happening in the first place.

Also make sure to subscribe to several newsletters on beauty and skincare (http://www.skin-care-1.com/) to keep up-to-date with this ever expanding industry for the best skin care products for you.

Beautiful Skin Naturally: Making Your Own Aromatherapy Skin Care Blends

Looking for that perfect skin product? One that will keep your skin looking great, smells great, is appealing to apply, has actual 'therapeutic' effects, and doesn't break the bank? Look no further than aromatherapy. Creating a wonderful blend just for your skin type with the magic of potent natural botanicals is fun and rewarding in more ways than one. Essential oils are widely used in natural medicine, and some are well-known for their skin rejuvenating effects.

There are a few essential oils and carriers that are highly regarded in natural beauty and skin care. With these, and perhaps one or two extra ingredients, you can make effective (and very pleasant smelling) recipes for a wide variety of skin conditions. The short list of essential oils for skin care – Helichrysum (also known as Everlasting) is one of the strongest anti-inflammatory oils known in aromatherapy. It is also very high in regenerative ketones; compounds which stimulate the regeneration of skin cells. Rosemary Verbenone serves a similar function, being thought to enhance metabolic functioning in the dermis layer, increasing circulation and the elimination of waste products.

Lavender has properties similar to Helichrysum, with a wonderful, relaxing aroma; it can bring synergy to a combination of oils and is thought to keep the skin in a balanced, healthy condition. Carrot Seed essential oil is also regenerating, bringing life to tired, pallid skin. Palmarosa essential oil can be included for it's pleasing aroma and anti-septic effects; Niaouli is also recommended for the same reasons, along with it's skin-firming properties.

This is only a few of the many essential oils included in skin formulas, though these are considered among the most important for their broad range of effects. Almost any essential oil can be added to a blend in balanced quantities. In many cases, oils are added as much for their lovely aroma as their direct therapeutic benefits to skin tissue. Many aromatherapists, and natural health professionals for that matter, consider the overall mental and emotional condition to be of primary importance in creating an appearance of fitness and beauty. Many citrus and floral oils are used for this reason – Neroli, distilled from the flowers of the bitter orange tree, is an often used example. Others are Jasmine, Sandalwood (very popular in Men's skin care), Geranium and Ylang Ylang.

Essential oils, be they for direct effects on skin metabolism, or for the overall state of wellness of the user, will be diluted in a carrier oil, sometimes known as a base oil. It is important to note that diluting the oils will often actually enhance their effects; essential oils are often too strong to be used directly, and many studies have shown increased efficacy in dilutions down to 1% or less of the total formula. The carrier oils serve several other functions as well; they "carry" the essential oils into the skin, increasing their total absorption. They also nourish the middle and lower layers of the skin with essential fatty acids or EFA's – compounds now considered critical to the health of all living tissues.

Further, some carrier oils have vitamin analogs which assist in skin regeneration and repair. A few of the most important carrier oils include the following: Rosehip Seed Oil is highly regarded for it's regenerating effects for skin which has been over-exposed to the sun or has other damage. It includes a variety of Vitamin A which acts to increase cellular turnover, similar to Retin-A without the over-drying side effects. Numerous scientific studies have validated this oil's positive effects on damaged or prematurely aged skin. Next is Evening Primrose Oil, which has a significant quantities of gamma-linolenic acid, an important essential fatty acid.

Evening Primrose oil has been used to support skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema, and may help premature skin aging. Finally, Hazelnut oil is possibly the most commonly used base oil for skin care; it is gentle, has little aroma, and is suitable for all skin types. Often, small amounts of Rosehip seed and/or Evening Primrose oil will be included in a blend, with Hazelnut oil comprising the majority of the carrier mixture.

Here are several blends categorized by skin type to get you started. For normal skin, used at any time: In each ounce of Hazelnut Oil, add 15 drops Thyme Linalool, 15 drops Rosemary Verbenone, 15 drops Neroli, and 15 drops Spike Lavender; this blend can work well for acne with it's antiseptic properties, but is an excellent tonic for all skin types. If your skin has been chemically damaged, is overly-sensitive, or otherwise 'weakened' with broken capillaries, try this mixture, applying frequently: For each ounce of base oil, use three parts Hazelnut, one part Rosehip Seed, and one part Evening Primrose. Add the following essential oils: fifteen drops Moroccan Chamomile, fifteen drops Helichrysum, fifteen drops true Lavender, and fifteen drops Roman Chamomile.

The Helichrysum, Lavender and Rosehip seed will enhance the skin's own natural metabolism, and the addition of the Chamomiles will greatly reduce inflammation that is found with almost all damage and/or aging. If your skin is prone to acne, or has over-active sebaceous glands, the following blend can be of great assistance. It contains regenerative, antiseptic, and cleansing oils. Simply use Hazelnut as the base, and to each ounce include fifteen drops of Green Myrtle or Inula graveolens, fifteen drops Eucalyptus dives (because of the ketones in this oil, it should not be used if pregnant – or under 10 years of age – but is otherwise considered safe), fifteen drops Spike Lavender, and fifteen drops Rosemary verbenone.

If your skin has no particular 'condition', but appears tired, lifeless, pallid, or 'worn out', try mixing one-fifth ounce of Rosehip Seed and four-fifths ounce Hazelnut oil. Then add 15 drops each of Carrot Seed essential oil (also known as Queen Anne's Lace or Wild Carrot), Lemon verbena (which helps the skin detoxify), Niaouli (gently tightening the skin), and Rosemary verbenone – this creates an excellent restorative blend. For aging skin needing firming that can be used around the eyes – try this more gentle variety: Mix in five ounces of Hazelnut oil and one ounce of Rosehip seed oil, add fifteen drops of each of Myrtle essential oil (green), Cistus or Rock Rose and Rosemary.

So there are a few tried-and-true aromatherapy skin care blends to use in your natural beauty regime. You can easily mix and match the oils described to create your own blend, and add any oils you really like the aroma of (be aware that a FEW essential oils are VERY strong, and should not be used on the skin – the more common of these include Cinnamon, Clove, Oregano, and Red Thyme – consult with a knowledgeable practitioner if you are unsure about the safety of any oil). A word about purchasing oils for your blends – do NOT use anything labeled as a 'fragrance oil' – these are synthetic reproductions of essential oils that will likely cause an allergic reaction.

DO seek out a reputable source. And oils, like wine, do vary greatly from maker to maker. A higher price can mean a significantly nicer oil (though not always) – one that is sweeter, or more well-rounded – only a few oils should smell 'medicinal' – Spike Lavender is a little 'camphorus' in general – but a good Rosemary verbenone should have a very appealing scent . Despite the initial outlay, you are more likely to continue to use a blend that you really like the aroma of, and that has therapeutic effects. Though once you find the oils you adore, you're more than likely to continue the practice of making your own blends for some time to come.

Acne Skin Care Products

There are many skin care products out on the market. There are skin care products made for men, women, and all teens. Almost everyone’s skin breaks out at some point and that is why there are so many acne skin care products available today. Because there are so many acne skin care products then you are more than capable of finding a product that will help your skin and help prevent blemishes. These medications are meant to help balance out your skin. The problem can be sensitivity, tone, ethnicity, or gender. Yes all of those can be factors in why your skin is breaking out. For some people a simple toner will help your skin, but for other you may have to go to a dermatologist to get a product that will work for you.

While some of the most highly regarded therapeutic grade oils may seem expensive at first, they are effective in such small concentrations as to really make them worthwhile. And their efficacy is well-known; that's why so many laboratory-made preparations use components of essential oils in their formulas. With a one or two ounce bottle to mix in, and an eye dropper, you can easily mix your own blend with the aroma and actions you desire most.

Facial cleanser is something everyone should you though. A facial cleanser is gentle and good for your skin. Be careful when trying to find an appropriate acne skin product because trying too many can dry out your skin, causing more acne. If you are using peroxide to clean your face, get a moisturizer to keep your skin from becoming dry. This could also help keep you skin balanced. Test a small section of skin before settling on a product. You want to make sure it won’t make your skin worse. For men, try using a manual razor over an electric razor. Change the blade often, so your face will not get irritated by pieces of hair that may have stuck in the razor. Always rinse your blade in hot water, so you do not infect your skin. Use shaving cream that is meant for sensitive skin. Taking vitamins will also help balance your skin. Watch what you eat and drink. Sugar can be a huge cause in a break out. Foods with sulfur, like garlic and onions can be used to increase acne. Consider talking to a dermatologist to get the most out of acne skin products.

Drugstore Brand vs. Professional Skin Care Products

There are so many questions about buying a professional skin care product: Will it work better? What makes it work better? Is it worth the money? Well, I'm here to help you sort through it all - you just need some guidelines to make the right choices.

There some fundamentals that are the foundation to all I have to say on this topic:

There are professional skin care products that work very well and are very inexpensive...there are also some very expensive professional products that are terrible! With this in mind, let's break it down so that you are armed with the knowledge you need to make smart purchasing decisions. What exactly is a "professional skin care product?" Well, there are a couple different ways to consider this.

Skincare products fall into four general categories:

1. Products that an esthetician uses in the salon and does not provide for resale

2. Products that an esthetician may use on you in the salon and does offer them for re-sale

3. Products available at department stores, usually at a premium price

4. Products available at your local drugstore or grocery store

Let's go through each category and explain. You'll soon realize that it is ALL ABOUT INGREDIENTS. Type I - Products used in salons but not available for re-sale. These are not typically sought after by most women, but they do require a short discussion. When you get a facial, depending on your skin your esthetician may use a product that is much stronger than anything you would (or should) ever use on your own. This is usually a highly concentrated glycolic or salicylic acid peel. These are Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA's) or Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHA's) respectively. While you may very well use a product containing an AHA or BHA, you should not be using anything stronger than an 8% solution for AHA or a 5% solution for BHA.

Stronger than those concentrations, you may be susceptible to irritation and swelling. The decision to go to a higher concentration should only be left to a qualified skin care professional. Your esthetician may apply a 20-30% peel in some cases, if you have skin that is very thick or is in desperate need of major exfoliation. Some common reasons would be for severe acne, severely neglected skin, or maybe for a smoker (did I tell you smoking is BAD for your skin, among other things?). Bottom line is that peels of this strength should NEVER be self-administered. Using this type of professional skin care product is best left to only qualified estheticians.

Type II - Products used by salons and only available for sale at a salon. These products are of many different varieties and require some knowledge to sort through. Here, you MUST know a little bit about reading a label. You may find the same ingredients in VERY EXPENSIVE products, but you may also find them in VERY INEXPENSIVE products. You need to read the label. Some other things to look for on the labels are sensitizing agents, "natural ingredients," and various emollients. Sensitizing agents are anything that may produce irritation. When you see various fragrances and colors added, these may very well cause irritation.

They may also make the price go up considerably. Watch out for this - you may be able to get the same cleanser (by ingredient) without the fancy smell and container. Look out for "natural" ingredients. "Natural" ingredients tend to show up in salons and also tend to have a high price tag. If you see an ingredient list that includes things like honey extract, almond oil, coconut oil, or grape seed oil, you may well see some nice results. But you may NOT! What you can be sure of, is that exotic ingredients will make the cost go up considerably.

Type III - the department store products. These products are the most insidious largely because they are usually the closest thing to drugstore brands. There are THOUSANDS of products out there and MILLIONS of combinations and formulas. "Professional" skincare products sold under prestige names in the department stores are very often no better than those available at your local CVS, although they are MUCH more expensive.

Type IV - Drugstore brands. I have nothing against drugstore brands. Nothing at all. But you do need a word of caution. In my experience, drugstore brands are much more likely to have harsh detergents and other sensitizing agents without the appropriate buffer or desensitizing agent. Just make sure to look out for products like toners that are alcohol based, cleansers that are the classic lauryl/lareth sulfate (a good cleanser, but just too harsh!). There are many drugstore brands that I would match well against many a professional skin care product.

There are also various emollients in professional skin care products that may garner a hefty price tag and others that are a little lower on the food chain. For example, mineral oil is often regarded in negative terms and typically appears in less expensive drugstore brands. But newer research suggests that mineral oil is an excellent emollient (though it may not absorb so well in some products). Shea butter is another great example. Shea butter is a GREAT emollient and is found in some VERY high-priced Professional skin care moisturizers. Funny thing is...you can find Shea butter in many drugstore brands - just read the label. Remember, manufacturers are required to print ingredient lists on every cosmetic, in order of concentration. To settle the drugstore brand vs. professional skincare product debate, all you have to to do is - read the label!

Man Skin Care Product Tips

A while ago, men had to steal a bit of our wives, girlfriends or even sisters face cleanser or moisturizer. Of course we know it wasn't because we like to put on make up or play dress up. It's because we want to look good, clean and attractive for women. However, now a day’s companies are finally starting to respond to men's interest in skin care and today we have a variety of men skin care products on the market. Statistics show that just in the United States, men spend more than 4 billion dollars per year on grooming products. I know some of you guys may still me tempted to just use whatever’s in the bathroom mirror cabinet, but you have to realize that a man's skin and woman's skin is very different. The men skin care products made today are designed specifically for men and our skin.

A man's skin is about 20 percent thicker than woman's, and it’s a lot more firm than hers because we have more collagen and elastin. Unfortunately, men have more active sebaceous glands; this means our skin tends to be oilier. Also, due to regular shaving, men's facial skin tends to get dehydrated. While taking care of your skin sounds girlish, it'll actually get you more attention from the ladies because you’re taking care of your appearance and more specifically your facial skin. Trust me, good skin doesn't go unnoticed. So it's time to stock up on some quality men skin care products and you can get these babies either online or at most local stores. Below I picked out some moisturizers for men that I would recommend. Remember, all of these products where mad for men and there’s nothing girly going on here.

-Zirh Protect: Face Moisturizer
This is the ultimate environmental defense lotion for your face. It contains an effective moisturizer that leaves no oily film, improves your skins texture and slows your skins aging. Unlike many face lotions that contain mineral oil which may cause acne, this moisturizer will give you no problems.

-Brave Soldier: Brave Face
Brave Face immediately soothes, cools, and reduces irritation and redness after shaving. Healing botanicals such as soy amino acids and marine extracts helps enrich and stimulate your skin’s own natural balance. Personally, I use this moisturizer all the time after shaving and it really does what it says.

-Sharps Barber & Shop Daily: Prep Skin Tuning Lotion
This super hi-tech lotion has a controlled release system that delivers all day moisture without the greases. The company strives to a modern approach to the traditional barbershop, getting guys all cleaned up and ready for action.

-Jack Black: Line Smoother Face Moisturizer
This ultra-lightweight moisturizer helps fight the signs of aging. Natural fruit acids and vitamins help minimize fine lines, wrinkles and skin discoloration by gently sloughing off the top layer of skin, revealing younger, smoother skin beneath. The formula soaks in fast, with no greasy after feel. My favorite feature is that it's fragrance free and colorant free.

-Men Science: Advanced Face Lotion
This high-performance moisturizer, formulated with advanced water binding agents and skin refining ingredients, helps renew and restore your complexion while nurturing and protecting it. The ultra light, oil-free formula absorbs immediately and is by far one of my favorite light lotions. There are tons of quality men skin care products on the market today. I would suggest that you try various products, so you can see which is best for your type of skin. Of course this doesn't mean skin care has to be your life’s priority, remember that this only takes up a couple of minutes after your shower and the benefits, such as getting more attention for girls, are definitely worth it.

Skin Care Products For Sun Tanning

A deep, bronzed skin, acquired by sun tanning is very popular today. Not only that, many people enjoy tanning. One only has to go to the local beach to see dozens of people lying in the sun, trying to get that perfect tan. But sun tanning has its dangers, too. Ultraviolet rays, or UV rays, which you are exposed to from the sun and from tanning beds, can cause sun burning, premature aging, and cancer. Over exposure to the sun, which you are in danger of when tanning, can pose serious long term health risks.

The solution is to protect yourself from over exposure to the sun. Limit your time in the sun, and or use protection from the sun. Many professionals recommend that you use clothing, such as long sleeve shirts and hats to protect yourself from the sun. However, if you're wanting to get a tan, you don't want complete protection. You want to protect your skin with skin care products. The first skin care product you'll need is sunscreen, which will help protect your skin from the negative effects of exposure to the sun. When choosing a sunscreen, ensure that it protects you from UVA and UVB rays. Also pay attention to the Sun Protection Factor, or SPF rating of the skin care product.

Exposure to sun and other elements can also have a premature aging effect on your skin, which you probably do not want! You can combat aging effects on your skin with rejuvenating skin care products. Many of the products contain ingredients such as aloe vera or antioxidant rich plant sources. Antioxidants help fight oxidation by free radicals, which is what causes much of effects of aging.

Sun tanning can be enjoyable and beautifying, but you should be very careful. It's not worth damaging your skin or your health. Protect yourself and your skin with quality skin care products every day of the year.
