Root of Hair Loss Problem

It is very common to say when a person started to loss hair he ask "why me". After observing your father and elder brother joined the hair less people you get to know that it was only a matter of time. You started to shed more than your puppy. How do you cure it? It is sure you can never really prepare for it until this happened now.

Most hair growth treatments will state that best results come from the beginning stage of hair loss.

Now a days the market is full of different products from different companies which assuring you to re grow your hair. But the unfortunately the truth of thus matter is, all these products do not all work. Hair loss products like shampoos, cleaners, oils, cleans away the sebum produced by the sebaceous glands. The sebum builds up on the scalp and hardens the hair follicles there by inhibiting growth.

That is all good but it does not get to the root of the hair loss problem. Hair stops growing because the hair follicle is sick, not dirty. We all know the main culprit is DHT. That does not stand for dangerous level of hair thinning. It's Dihydrotestosterone., which basically interrupts the normal functioning of healthy hair growth.

Products like Rogaine, Procerin and Avacor have shown results with individuals whose hair are still in a growing phase or what's clinically referred as the anagen stage. The telogen stage is the resting or dormant phase. It's the one where you start losing your hair. This is where most hair re-growth treatments fail.

So if you're at the horseshoe stage your odds are slim that the product will work. There is one product that works even if you've been balding for over 20 years. It's called RK19T. It's a blend of high potency vitamins combined with an anti-inflammatory. RK19T shields the hair root from your body's DHT and prevents DHT inflammation from happening at the hair root. Inflammation at the root is what cuts off the follicle's nutrients. Without the proper nutrients the follicle cannot continue to grow. Once your follicles begin to get the right nutrients your hair will begin to grow again Fore more details visit Beauty Resources

Prescription Drugs for Hair Loss Treatment

Millions of men and women suffer from hair loss. Hair loss is more common to men than to women, however. Not only does it make men look older beyond their actual age, it also negatively impacts their self esteem and social confidence. Fortunately, there are many options for male hair loss treatment.

Most of hair loss treatments are cosmetic in natural. Those treatments make the patients look better as if they have healthy hairs. Cosmetic treatments include hairpieces, weaves and surgical methods for permanent effects. Today's hairpieces either made by real hair or synthetic hair look so real, that no one can tell. Many people don't realize how advanced some of these pieces have become. Many hairpieces have new netting that allows the hair to flow naturally and look like your original hair. There are also plenty of new adhesives so you don't have to worry about your hair ever being removed even in a tornado. Other cosmetic options are cosmetically based lotions, shampoos and herbal supplements.

Rogaine is available over the counter. It has been proven effective by the Federal Drug Administration for slowing down hair loss and regrowing back your hair. Minoxodil is the active ingredient in Rogaine. Rogaine is a topical solution that is applied twice daily to the scalp. Romaine is effective for both slowing hair loss but regrowing hair. Regrowing will normally takes a few months and results are more often seen on the crown of the scalp. Rogaine is for genetic hair loss only, not effective for hair loss due to another disease or ailment. You must also be over the age of 18 in order to use this product. Rogaine actually works on women as well.

Propecia, which requires a prescription from a doctor, is another drug effective for male hair loss treatment. It helps treat hair loss by lowering chemicals levels in the body that decrease the growth of hair. Unlike Rogaine, Propecia is not a drug specifically designed for male hair loss treatment. It is actually a drug to shrink the prostate, but was shown effective in controlling the hormones that cause hair loss. Surprisingly, this drug has been proven to work better then Minoxodil in regrowing hair back. It also grows hair back on the front of the scalp as well. While both drugs won't help hair loss patients grow back a full head of hair, they do slow down the hair loss and can fill up some of the more pronounced areas.

Types Of Hair Loss

An average human scalp contains about 100,000 hairs. Even when most of these hairs remain healthy, it is little consolation to the child with hair loss. There are many causes of Thinning Hair, but a few common ones are as below:

Medical scientists have been researching and testing solutions that help to slow down hair loss or actually to regrow hairs. Rogaine and Propecia are commonly used medicines for male hair loss treatment. Both of them are approved by Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Alopecia Areata
Alopecia Areata is a common condition, although those who have it often have never seen anyone else who has it. It occurs at all ages and young people are affected most often. There is no sex discrimination; it affects males and females equally. It usually occurs on the scalp, but any hair growing part of the body can be involved. Normally the hair follicles on the scalp are busy producing metres of hair each day. In Alopecia Areata, the affected hair follicles slow down production drastically, become quite small, and grow no hair that is visible above the surface for months or years. While they are in this hibernation-like state, the "sleeping" follicles remain alive below the skin surface and are ready to resume normal hair production whenever they receive the right signal.

Psychosomatic Hair Loss
This type of hair loss is associated with stress or trauma. This can be literally a self-induced condition caused by the individual worrying so much about their hair (with or without reason) that they speed up the hair loss condition.

Alopecia Totalis & Universalis
With Alopecia some people develop only a few bare patches and regrow them within a year, even without treatment. In others, the condition spreads until all hair on the scalp is lost; this is called Alopecia Totalis. In still others, all hair on the entire body is lost, this is called Alopecia Universalis. No matter how widespread the hair loss is, the hair follicles remain alive below the skin surface, and the possibility of regrowth remains.

Traction Alopecia
Traction Alopecia is caused by mechanical strain on the scalp, e.g. tight ponytails, tight braiding of the hair, or by too tightly curling the hair with rollers. Not so many years ago this condition was common amongst some men resulting from the wearing of certain types of hairpieces that required hair to beclipped on, or tied to, the hairpiece. This type of baldness is discussed in more detail under the section dealing with hairpieces.

How To Find The Best Hair Loss Treatment

We treat it with care, brush it every day and hope it's never out of place. But when hair begins to lose its thickness and leaves our brush draped with locks, it may be time to consider a hair loss treatment. There are several factors that may lead to hair loss, including certain medications, medical treatments, improper care, poor nutrition or illness. No matter the reason, the loss of one's hair can be an embarrassing occurrence for many. With a proper diagnosis, a dermatologist can recommend a customized approach and an effective hair loss treatment.

In the beginning, a patient may be prescribed some type of medication in order to help prevent further hair loss. This would depend entirely on the determined cause, but is often an early approach to fighting against continued loss. Perhaps the most widely recognized hair loss treatment is Rogaine, which is available by prescription only. For individuals who do not seem to respond to regular treatments, or simply want a fast and effective hair loss treatment, a transplant may be their preferred approach.

A hair loss treatment is one that helps to prevent recurrence, but a hair transplant is thought to be a permanent resolution. This procedure includes the removal of skin and hair from another area of the head and transplanted to the location of hair loss. This procedure is commonly used on men who are experiencing male pattern baldness because there is usually hair that can be removed from the back and transplanted onto the balding area. It is important that there be enough healthy hair to transplant, as well as enough to remain at the donor site in order to maintain a full look. Certain individuals, such as those with weakened immune systems and/or Diabetes, may not be ideal candidates for a hair transplant.

Men or women who are suffering from complete hair loss due to certain illnesses and/or medical treatments, such as chemotherapy or radiation, may find that their only hair loss treatment is that of artificial hair. Commonly referred to as a 'wig,' this type of hair is created to look natural and is carefully selected so that each patient feels that there appearance is not dramatically altered by the change. This article is intended to be used for informational purposes only. It is not to be used in place of, or in conjunction with, professional medical advice or a dermatologist's recommendation. Prior to beginning any hair loss treatment program, individuals must consult a physician for proper diagnosis and/or treatment.

Your Morning Ritual Is Causing You Hair Loss!

Each day, Americans are bombarded with advertisements for products and services to improve their hair. While some of these products may enhance appearance, they also can contribute to hair loss. August is Hair Loss Awareness Month and a good time to take stock of your locks. Breaking through the myths of hair loss and hair care is the first step to maintaining beautiful hair for life. Hair loss affects 80 million American men and women and while it isn't life-threatening, it can cause emotional distress. Disease, genetic predisposition and even poor cosmetic grooming practices all cause hair loss. Even simple changes in your hair care routine can result in healthier hair.

It is normal to shed hair every day and the truth is we loose between 100-125 hairs on any given day. Hair that is shed falls out at the end of growth cycle. At any given time 10% of our hair is in what is called a 'resting phase' and after 2-3 months resting, hair falls out and new hair grows in its place. Some people, however, experience more hair loss than is normal.

Blow drying hair is a common morning ritual for many people. While it is a quick, convenient way to dry and style hair, blow drying damages hair as the high heat from a blow dryer can actually boil the water in the hair shaft leaving it brittle. In addition, vigorous towel rubbing or combing of wet hair also can cause hair loss, since wet hair is more elastic and more vulnerable to breakage than dry hair.

Rather than blow dry, the hair should be allowed to air dry, with styling and combing occurring once the hair is partially dry. This will provide excellent body with less opportunity for hair shaft damage.

Hair Loss Awareness Month is a good time to refine your hair care routine. Keep your hair healthy by eating a well-balanced diet, avoiding overprocessing with chemicals and using styling tools that are flexible and easily slip through hair. If you are experiencing itching or hair loss, visit your dermatologist to explore a treatment that will work best for you.

More about Nutrition and Hair Loss

There is another most important element with regard to having healthy hair, and that is Zinc.

Zinc is responsible for the following important factors:

The production of cells

The growth and repair of tissues

The maintenance of all oil secreting glands in the scalp.

There is another equally important role which zinc plays, and that is in the formation of collagen and protein synthesis. The logical conclusion which can be drawn from this is that when it comes to hair maintenance and the prevention of dandruff zinc deficiency can be on of the reasons for problems in this area. It is not widely known in the community that most Americans have a deficiency in zinc. When it comes to good sources of zinc most animal origin foods are okay, but seafood, including oysters are particularly good. Eggs and milk also contain zinc, but it must be said it is found in much smaller quantities. Nuts, legumes and natural grains also contain zinc, but this is of a different type than that found in animal sources and is not easily utilised by the body. There is one contradiction to this and that is that oats are a very good source of zinc and are also easily utilised.

The majority of animal origin foods, with particular emphasis on meats, fish, milk, cheese, eggs and yogurt all contain protein. Broadly speaking diets in the Western world contain sufficient protein and it is therefore not necessary for the average person to eat additional protein. Despite the fact that hair is made of protein it is completely false to believe that excessive protein intake will improve hair growth. On the contrary , it is likely to cause other health problems.

Until recently, women have been reluctant to seek treatment, but hair restoration surgeons say that women make up more and more of their practices. In reality, hair loss is just as common in women as it is in men, though the degree of loss tends to vary by gender. 'By the age of 50, over 50 percent of men have significant hair loss.' Dr. McAndrews says.

There are nine essential amino acids in complete proteins and this creates somewhat of a problem for vegeterians as they are mostly found in animal origin foods. Vegetables, seeds, nuts, grains and legumes all contain protein but it is not in the same form necessary for a healthy body. Soybeans are the only common non-meat source for complete protein. Fortunately tofu and texturised vegetable protein (TVP) have been made from soybeans and this enables them to be made into various dishes. Vegetarians can of course eat a wide variety of vegetables and so obtain all the essential amino acids from these sources.

It is quite some time now since sheep farmers found that iodine depleted soil and consequently vegetation had an adverse effect on the growth of wool in sheep.Iodine is also essential in the growth of our hair. It is quite common to find , and it is generally accepted that table salt has iodine synthetically added but unfortunately this form of iodine is capable of causing iodine overload as it is not easily assimilated into the body. It is worth noting here that the thyroid may be adversely affected by any excess of iodine in the body. A natural conclusion to be drawn from these facts is that it is always better to retrieve your iodine from completely natural food sources.

Seaweed, seafood, lima beans, salmon, eggs, molasses, watercress, garlic and potatoes with the skin on are good natural sources. Oxygen is the most abundant element in the earth's crust , the second being the trace element silica, which is a form of silicon. Due to the manner in which our food is processed and our soil depleted by chemical treatments so often trace minerals are lost and consequently they are rarely found in Western diets. The trace mineral silica is important to hair growth, but it vital to the strength of hair. It will not necessarily stop hair from falling out from the follicle, but it will certainly prevent hair breakage. It slows the aging process by the stimulation of cell metabolism and formation.

Rice, oats, lettuce, parsnips, asparagus, onions, leek, cabbage, strawberries, cucumber, sunflower seeds, rhubarb are particular foods which are rich in silica. It is worthy of note that a lot of these foods are found in Asian diets and the result of this is that Asians have strong and healthy hair. To try and maintain an acceptable level of trace minerals Americans should attempt to source foods which are organically grown. This will at least go a part of the way to solving the problems created by soil depletion. Whenever possible these foods should be eaten uncooked and with rice it should be used unwashed as trace minerals can quite easily be lost in the cooking and washing process

The Truth On Hair Loss Myths...

You might be surprised to learn that many people are unable to untangle fact from fiction when it comes to hair loss. Some of the blame lies with the many companies and individuals exploiting hair loss myths in order to sell bogus hair products. Other myths may linger because people with hair loss, particularly women, are reluctant to talk about an issue that remains sensitive and sometimes emotional. The timing and pattern of pattern baldness is also different in men and women. While men tend to start losing hair in the 30s and 40s, hair loss begins in the 40s or 50s in women, though it can occur as early as the 20s. And while men first lose hair in the front and at the top of the head, women's hair thins diffusely throughout the scalp.

'For women, about 25 percent have significant hair loss by the age of 50, though it may be less apparent because women are more conscientious about hiding it than men are.' For most people, hair loss is a result of a genetic predisposition. For some, however, hair loss may result from a condition called telogen effluvium. Telogen effluvium is a condition where a lot of hair may fall out in a relatively short period of time.

The most common causes are childbirth, high fever, severe illness and even high stress. In most cases this type of hair loss is temporary. Other common causes are like inadequate protein or iron in your diet, or poor nourishment caused by fad diets or an eating disorder. Chemicals used for dying, bleaching, straightening or perming hair as well as excessive hairstyling or hairstyles that pull your hair too tight can also cause gradual hair loss.
