Baldness or hair loss is a common problem many people face. It not only affects adults, but teens as well. People experiencing hair loss have a tendency to worry a lot. After all, in our society, appearance is everything. But hair loss is normal, actually, it’s a natural part of our body’s renewal process. We lose about 50-100 pieces of hair a day. This amount of hair loss is normal. These hairs are replaced and grow back in the same follicle on your head; therefore, there is nothing to worry about.
But what if you are losing more than that?
Well, if you have unusual hair loss and don’t have any idea what is causing it, it is recommended that you see your dermatologist. Your dermatologist can tell why your hair if falling out. If needed, your dermatologist can suggest a treatment or product to help you correct your underlying problem.
So, what really are the causes of hair loss?
Diseases, stress, use of medicines, hormone imbalance, family history, improper care of hair, and even different hairstyles that we use are the major factors that lead to the problem of hair loss. Radiation, chemotherapy, thyroid disease, and local skin diseases are also included.
So if you’re not suffering from hair loss and don’t want to experience it in the future, start pampering your hair now. Try to eat a balanced diet because a healthy diet really benefits your hair. If possible, shampoo your hair no more than once a day. If you rub your hair too vigorously with a towel, try to avoid it now. Lastly, be careful when using chemicals on your hair like hair straighteners or hair colors as too much chemicals can really cause hair loss.
As always, before you attempt to self medicate or try a new health regimen or program we suggest you retain the services of a qualified health care professional.
Propecia Alters the Reasons Responsible for Hair Loss
Appearance in today’s world is a vital factor. No doubt, age factor affects our appearance on a larger extent, but loss of hair can make one look older than one actually is. Luckily, of late there are many hair restoration procedures and treatments available. The common causes of hair loss can be treated successfully by a variety of hair restoration process. But, apart from hair transplantation and surgery there are many medicinal options that prove very effective in hair growth as well as stopping hair loss. One such medicine is Propecia which shows substantial results in curing male pattern hair loss.
DHT is a substance in our body which destroys the scalp by shrinking it until it no longer produces any visible hair.
Dermatologist across the world claim that Propecia begins to show its influence from the very first day of its usage. A pill a day is enough to lower the DHT amount in our scalp. Propecia targets the cause responsible for the increase in DHT and gradually lowers the secretion of DHT. Though results may vary from each individual, but it is proved that from the day one takes Propecia, there is a decrease in hair loss within a span of 3 months and moreover one may see a considerable amount of hair growth by 6-12 months.
There are scientific evidences which show that Propecia really works. A 5 year clinical study demonstrated that the sooner one begin using Propecia the more effective it is. But it is also mentioned in the study that if one does not finds any result after one year, it is wise to discard the drug and look for other methods for controlling hair loss. However, a doctor’s advice will be very beneficial and he is the only one who can save from its side effects and the right dose.
Produced by Merck, Propecia is the first FDA approved drug to treat male pattern hair loss on the vertex and mid scalp area only in men. Studies show that it is effective in restoring the lost hair follicles and attempts to eliminate hair loss. It has been proved to be the most comprehensive treatment hair loss in men and appears to be the treatment of preference for many. It actually alters the reasons responsible for hair loss.

Hair Loss Signs and Symptoms
Yes, it can be said that losing hair is the major symptom of hair loss. But wait; there are different signs and symptoms for different types of hair loss, some of which can be treated. Below is a description of different types of hair loss and the possible diagnosis.
Hair loss is in small patches
– Alopecia areata is when the loss of hair occurs in sharply defined areas usually involving the scalp or beard, but at times every hair on the body. If the small patches are red, oily or itchy, you could be suffering from Seborrhea, Lichen, Planus or Ringworm, all conditions that have treatments available to reduce or eliminate the problem.
Gradual hair loss in front area or on top
—This is typically called Male Pattern Baldness. Many shampoos and treatments claim to reverse or slow balding. One prescription medicine, called minoxidil, is available, but it's expensive and effective for only one-third of patients. It also comes with a few side-effects.
Other possible causes for hair loss:
is the gradual destruction of hair follicles by the excessive use of pomades with a hot comb or iron. Thinning usually begins at the crown and then spreads evenly throughout the head. The treatment for this problem is to stop using the pomades, hot combs and irons.
Medicines, Steroids, Chemotherapy:
If you are on certain medications or undergoing chemotherapy, your hair loss should be temporary. After your treatment is complete, your hair usually starts to grow back.
Iron or Zinc Deficiency:
If your body is deficient in iron or zinc, this could be the cause of your hair loss. Always consult with a medical doctor before taking any supplements.
When your body is in crisis, the hair cells can shut down in order to direct energy elsewhere. There is treatment available for thyroid disease.
Very stressful situations can cause hair loss.
After childbirth, many women experience hair loss. Typically the loss will stop about 6 months after childbirth.
So, as you can see above, in some situations there is a medical solution for hair loss situations. To determine your hair loss, consult with your medical doctor or dermatologist. All prescriptions for hair loss must be taken while under the care of a doctor so that any side-effects can be monitored.

Dramatic hair loss can be a traumatic experience and can have severe psychological affects on the sufferer. Although in some fashionable circles, a bald or shaved head on a man is considered “trendy”, studies have related hair loss to unhappiness with one’s image in both men and women.
Numerous factors contribute to the cause of hair loss: Scalp bacteria, stress, poor nutrition, genetic baldness (affecting men and women) and hormonal imbalance. In many cases, hair loss may be caused by a combination of these factors but genetic pattern baldness is by far the most dominant factor, accounting for nearly 95% of all hair loss in men, as well as affecting millions of women.
Studies carried out by the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology revealed that most men regard hair loss as "an unwanted distressing experience that diminishes their body image."
The Academy also reports that hair loss in women can negatively affect self-worth, “including a significant loss of self esteem, being introverted, feeling less attractive and tense feelings in public places.”A further unsettling study shows that “At least half of women in the U.S. will experience some form of hair loss by the time they are 50 years old.” Considering hair loss affects 80 million people in the USA, this shows a disturbingly high number of people suffering emotional distress because of this syndrome.
There are a number of options available to those who want to improve or indeed reverse hair loss. Some may choose to use a wig or hairpiece while others choose medication. The only two medications approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are Rogaine®, and Propecia® and both are proven to combat hair loss.Propecia® is a prescription pill that men can take once a day to effectively treat genetic hair loss. The active agent in Propecia is a drug called Finasteride. Propecia works by controlling the levels of Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the body. With the levels of DHT in your body returned to normal, your hair loss could stop.
Rogaine® was the first FDA-approved hair loss treatment for both men and women. The active agent in Rogaine is a drug called Minoxidil. Rogaine is a solution that is applied topically to the scalp twice a day and is clinically proven to combat hair loss in its early stages. Rogaine comes in either 2% or 5% strength.
Surgery is another popular alternative for those seeking treatment. Hair transplantation has significantly improved over the last few years, and unlike old-fashioned “dolls hair” plugs, results in virtually undetectable, natural-looking restored hairlines and density.
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is one of the newest methods of hair transplantation, and there are only a few clinics around the world that offer it. FUE is a technique of extraction of follicular units and is an ideal option for patients who wish to wear their hair very short or are afraid of surgery. Up to 1500 follicular units may be transplanted in one sitting.
The FUE procedure allows the surgeon to harvest each follicular unit one at a time from the donor area (the back and sides of the head, as these two areas are not prone to balding). Once harvested, each hair is artistically transplanted into the balding or thinning areas of the scalp, allowing for painless and complete hair restoration.
This revolutionary process has many advantages including completely natural results, very little bleeding, no visible scar formation and less recovery time for patients. No blades or scalpels are ever used with the FUE procedure. Since there is no cutting of the scalp, patients still have the option of shaving their heads throughout their lifetime.
Clearly, the treatment of hair loss has come a long way over the past decade and the options available are numerous and painless. Indeed, the prospects of losing your hair need not be so terrifying after all. Who knows, with all these ground-breaking treatments becoming more popular and improving social awareness, our world in the next decade could well be a much happier, hairier place to live!

Men’s Hair Loss
Every human being on the planet wants to make sure that they look their best when attending a party or going out somewhere. This is natural and to some extent look the best possible is subconsciously aimed at attracting or getting noticed by the opposite sex. Not only are women particularly concerned about how they look, even men preen themselves before going out.
Therefore hair loss comes as a blow to men who believe it to be disastrous. Hair loss is the number one fear of every young man! The feeling of being bald creeps in to a man’s mind, imagining that he is no longer attractive, can lead to sleepless nights for him. Even since early times, every man has been fond of having a head full of hair, equating it with attractiveness.Male hair loss usually refers to the male pattern baldness. Androgenic alopecia is the medical name for male hair loss. A man starts suffering from hair loss after he reaches puberty.
Although hair loss is prevalent in both the sexes, the research has shown that a greater number of men suffer from this problem compared to women. Let us see what possible remedies exist for male hair loss:Propecia is a common and popular product used for treating male pattern baldness. This product is exclusively meant for men and it is not recommended that women use it. Propecia might lead to some unwanted hair growth in women in other parts of the body. This medication, which is solely meant for treating male hair loss, has some after effects like lessening the sex drive and leading to impotency. So, before a man starts using propecia, it is always suggested that he seek a doctor’s advice first.
Although male hair loss has some psychological impacts, but it is necessary to cope with this condition with indignity. Strength of mind and patience are really important at this phase of life. In order to hide their hair loss, many men shave their heads. However, this style doesn’t suit all. Many men buy a toupee to cover their hair loss, this may suit a lot of men. But these are somewhat artificial remedies. For a permanent cure, a man must get medical help. Products like Rogaine, propecia, etc. can be of great use. But consult a doctor prior to use.
What causes male hair loss? The root cause of hair loss in men is an excess of Dihydro testosterone (DHT). It is found in the body after a man reaches puberty. The function of DHT is to develop secondary sexual traits. DHT gets attached to the hair follicle and averts the integration of nutrients to the follicles, which leads to hair thinning and eventually results the shedding of large quantities of hair. Because of advancements in science and technology, hair loss is no longer a threat and can be easily treated. So don’t panic but, instead, work towards to getting the best of treatments available to stop of this devastating experience.

When it comes to maintaining a healthy head of hair and reversing the ravages of hair loss, there are many treatment products to choose from. The fact that all these products claim to be the very best can lead to a great deal of confusion among those men and women losing their hair, but for many sufferers hair loss aloe vera products are the number one choice.
If the reason for your hair loss is a medicine, you will be suggested to use a different medicine. If it’s caused by hormone imbalance, correcting it may prevent more hair loss. However, if adequate treatment is not available for your type of hair loss, try some of the many options for disguising hair loss: wigs, hair wraps, or hats. Compared to hair transplants, these alternatives give better cosmetic results at lower costs and with less trouble.
Traditional medicine and natural healers have long known about the power of the aloe vera plant, and the juice from its leaves has been used to treat burns, help cuts heal faster and even ease the pain of bee stings and sunburns. In addition, the Native American populations of North America, in addition to native healers in other indigenous cultures, have long used the aloe vera plant to keep the hair healthy and prevent it from falling out.
The value of these hair loss aloe vera products are many, although the exact mechanism by which they work is still the subject of ongoing research. What is known, however, is that aloe vera oil can have a healing impact on the skin, and that it can have a similar healing effect on the scalp. The hair loss remedies containing aloe vera as an ingredient are though to provide a great benefit to the scalp by helping to balance the pH level while at the same time cleansing the pore.
There are many different preparations of hair loss aloe vera products, but one of the most popular ways to use this plant to promote a healthy head of hair and a healthy scalp is to mix the aloe vera gel with a small amount of coconut milk and wheat germ oil. This preparation is then used as a shampoo.
For those who do not want to go to the trouble of creating their own aloe vera shampoo there are a growing number of commercial shampoos on the market that take advantage of the healing power of aloe vera. Many of these commercial formulations can be remarkably effective at healing the scalp and preventing farther hair loss, but it is important to read the ingredient label carefully to make sure these products contain a sufficient amount of aloe vera. It is important to look for a high concentration of aloe vera gel in any commercial shampoo, as these products should be more effective at keeping the scalp and the hair in top condition.
