Cholesterol Choices

Working full time is going to lead you to be on the go all the time. If you are packing your lunch, or even your supper you will find that you can often pick the wrong types of foods for your meals on the go. If you want to start watching and start cutting the cholesterol in your life, you can find many types of foods are on your side, and will leave you with some great foods that are exciting in taste at the same time.

Being on the go, working late and eating in the office can sometimes leave you with a feeling of wanting something different, or just something more. 

First off, if you are going to cut cholesterol in your diet, you will need to start with cutting white breads and white rolls. Wheat, rye and other types of whole grain breads are going to be key to your cutting cholesterol and lowering the cholesterol in your body. If you are going to cut white breads, you should also stop buying all that red meat and the meats that are high in fat. Purchase meats that have the fat trimmed, and that have the skinned removed for the best final dinner plate that is going to leave you with lower cholesterol level in your body. Using whole grain breads, and cutting up leftovers will give you a great lunch or dinner on the go any day of the week.

Some of the foods you can reach for include, frozen yogurt bars, dry cereals, cereal bars, fruit bars, and juice bars or skim milk ice cream. Look for popcorn that is light, or unbuttered, rice cakes are great and so are the low fat pretzels you can each just about anywhere.

Look to the fresh fruits and veggies you can take with you anywhere anytime for a good meal on the go that is going to be low in cholesterol at the same time.  Some of the goodies you might like to stock up on will include strawberries, raisins, grapes, pineapples, and oranges, or apples. Look for dried fruits or sliced fruits for sitting at your desk and munching while working all night long.  You can cut cholesterol if you stick to your guns and continue with high fibers and freshness for the best overall diet. You can also try fresh broccoli or fresh cauliflower for a great addition to any snack or meal you have to eat in the office or on the go.

High Cholesterol symptoms

Many of us look for any types of symptoms for high cholesterol but in reality the only way to find out if you have high cholesterol is by see the family physician and having the blood drawn to see if you are prone to it.  Even if you find that you have high cholesterol, you will notice that you do not feel any different that what you felt the day before the test.  You may think that you should feel a little different but there is nothing to expect because of high cholesterol because you cannot tell that you are one of the many with high cholesterol. 

 

That way there you would know what to look for because it would be something that you are going to need to be aware of so you can let them know if there is something wrong with the medications that you are on. 


You will need to talk to you physician to see if there would be any thing that you need to do for the high cholesterol.  If he or she has to put you on medication, you would need to ask them if there is any side effects of the medication.  That may be the only symptoms that you would have for high cholesterol that you are aware of because there is nothing else out there for you too watch out for.

You need to keep up with what the physician tells you so that you can help get yourself back in shape.  Because like was said before there is no symptoms of high cholesterol for you to watch out for.  I could be known as a silent disease if you would want to look at it in that way.  No matter how you look at it you need to make sure that you are being checked out every year or so for high cholesterol so you know what is going on with your body.  So just keep in touch with your family physician on at least a yearly basis, so keep both in formed of your progress in you health.

 

Cholesterol levels

You need to pay close attention to your cholesterol levels at all times.  One main time is when you are told that you are at risk of have high cholesterol levels because of your family history or from what you are eating on a daily basis.  You would be at risk of high cholesterol because of your tree had into problems with high cholesterol in the past. 

Even if the family did not have any problem with cholesterol you could still put yourself in danger. 

One way is by what you eat.  You need to keep a close eye on what you are eating on a daily basis because if you are eating a lot of fatty food that would be a good reason for putting your cholesterol levels up. 

You would need to consult a physician to find out what the safe levels of cholesterol for you are going to be.  If you think that you are in the family tree or dietary line that you are prone to having high cholesterol you would want to mention that to him or her. 

If they believe that you may be subject to high cholesterol they will send you for a cholesterol test to see if you are having any problem.  Once the test is done and everything is normal they will let you know just what is the best thing for you to do so that you may not have to worry so much about getting high cholesterol in the future. 

Yet if it does come back as being high they will tell you if you would have to take a high cholesterol medication or if you change you eating and exercising habit would help it out any.  No mater what the results are you would need to make sure that you are eating healthy and exercising properly.  If you take these main two steps you could help yourself prevent getting high cholesterol in the near future.  But you would still need to see your family doctor at least every year for a check up or a cholesterol test if needed.

Good Cholesterol

With all the talk about bad types of cholesterol that are out there, you should also be aware that there are some cholesterols that are good for your body as well.  Doctors are not going to check your cholesterol levels until you near the age of forty.  If you know your family has a constant history of high cholesterol and you are still younger, ask the doctor for a blood test so you can check now, before your cholesterol may get out of control.  So, what are the benefits of having cholesterol in your body, and eating the right types of cholesterol for your life?

There have been some tests that have been done that show that those who have cholesterol that is a little on the high side will live longer than those who have very low cholesterol levels in their body.  If your body does not have enough cholesterol in your body, you could suffer effects from this as well.  Every person, every body does have some amount of cholesterol in the body, and if you have a little more than others this is not always such a bad thing.

Many people think that those who have the highest cholesterol levels will suffer from heart attacks and from heart problems. The fact is that there are many effects that the body cannot control that will have an effect on the heart. Cholesterol levels can add to the risk of having a heart attack but just because you have high cholesterol does not meant that you are destined to have a heart attack or heart problems.  If you are overweight, and you are not watching the foods or the fats that you are eating, and you have high cholesterol and you are not exercising at all, you are going to be at risk for having a heart problem or a heart attack.

Heart problems and cardio vascular problems are often seen in those who are over sixty. Those who are over the age of sixty and that do not have high cholesterol are often at similar risk for having a heart attack or heart problems. The fact is that higher levels of cholesterol do aid many in the fight against infections. If you have a higher than average cholesterol level, but you are still not considered too high and in need for medications, you may find that you are sick less often than others who have very low levels of cholesterol.

Cholesterol Diet

There are many different types of diets out there but the best kind that is going to help your health.  The one diet that is going to help everyone out in the long run is one that is going to help lower your cholesterol.  In the long run it will help with reducing your fat intake as well.  With the good cholesterol, diet you would have to make sure that you cut back of the saturated fat and calories that you take in at every meal and snack that you have in a day. 

Reach for foods that are high in fiber, that are lower in fat, and low in cholesterol for the best cholesterol lowering effects for your health overall.


This is a good idea for everyone to take into consideration for their everyday living.  If you were to cut back on the fatty meats that you would buy or if you would take the time to cut, the fat off the meat before you would cook it then you could end up saving you life.  Another good way is to pay attention on how your food is prepared even when you are out for the night with the gang for your family.  If you ask for the meat to be broiled instead of fried that would be a lot less fat that you are taking in because it is not being cooked into the meat it is being cooked away from it instead.  Because the less fat that you take in throughout the day the less that you have on and in your body so you are less prone to having heart problems and high cholesterol. 

If you would ask your family physician, he or she may even give you a good idea of what to eat in one meal.  There are times that you may even have something printed out for you that would give you exact measurements of how much you should eat of each food group.  That way there you are not thinking that you would pretty much have to starve yourself to get the cholesterol lowered for the doctor.  That is what some people think is the only resource that they are able to do and it is wrong.  All you would have to do is just ask for help and the physicians are there to help you out with any question you would end up having.
