news and information
This article is about the use of Insulin Potentiation Therapy (IPT) for people with cancer. IPT has been known about for many years as a kinder, gentler way of using standard chemotherapy drugs, selectively delivering them to the cancer cells, whilst leaving the body's immune system intact.
Insulin Potentiation Therapy, generally referred to by the initials IPT, is an alternative treatment that uses standard, approved cancer-fighting drugs in much lower doses, thereby eliminating many of the debilitating side effects so common with conventional chemotherapy.
The side effects are significantly reduced because the chemotherapy doses can be as low as 10-15% of the standard dosage. IPT was developed by Dr. Donato Perez Garcia (1896-1971) in Mexico, who claimed it to be especially effective with breast cancer. Indeed, that if a cancer can be beneficially influenced by existing chemotherapy drugs, then IPT may also be effective, but without major side effects. Dr Garcia's work is today carried on by his grandson, of the same name.
How does IPT work?
Insulin, which is created naturally in the pancreas, regulates many of the body's functions at the cellular level, the most well-known being the level of glucose in the blood. It is suggested that insulin also modifies the receptivity of cancer cells to being penetrated by chemotherapy agents. Cancer cells grow by secreting their own insulin-like growth factor and insulin itself which draw on the body's nutrients to multiply. In fact they possess many times more insulin receptors than do normal cells, and these receptors will respond to administered insulin, which in turn makes them hungry for glucose and thus more susceptible to chemotherapy medication. The chemotherapy drugs are thus able to target more precisely the cancer cells, leaving the normal cells relatively unaffected.
What's wrong with traditional chemotherapy?
It is generally recognized that, over time, regular chemotherapy dosages may so compromise a patient's immune system and organ functions as to prevent further treatment or even cause organ damage resulting in the patient's death. Cancer cells are highly active in fighting for the glucose found in the blood stream. With sixteen times the number of insulin and insulin-like receptors found in healthy cells, cancer cells absorb essential nutrients from the blood stream before normal cells can get to them.
This is the reason that, in advanced stages of cancer, tumors continue to grow and multiply while the patient appears to waste away. In addition, because of the cancer cell's internal protection against toxins, normal chemotherapy doses need to be sufficiently large to force their way into the cancer cells. The result is the killing of many healthy cells in addition to the cancerous ones, frequently inducing in the patient nausea, vomiting, fever, hair loss, etc.
Benefits of IPT
* IPT works vigorously against cancerous tumors whilst being gentle on the patient, who continues to live a normal lifestyle during treatment.
* Standard chemotherapy medications are considered to work better in combination with IPT. As a result of the low dosage requirement and much reduced toxicity, the treating physician has greater freedom and flexibility in selecting and combining the various chemotherapeutic agents, resulting in a more highly optimized treatment.
* Due to the lower dosage requirements, treatments costs are significantly less than with standard chemotherapy.
* Side effects are relatively minor. There is no vomiting, no high fever, no vomiting and no hair loss. However, there can sometimes be a little initial nausea and occasional constipation.
IPT Side Effects
IPT causes a reduction in the blood glucose level. This is known as hypoglycemia and is an expected side effect of insulin therapy. Be in no doubt, hypoglycemia is a potentially dangerous state for the body, however it is a condition that is quickly and effectively controllable through the administration of intravenous glucose infusions. This is a standard component of the IPT protocol.
The information presented here is intended simply as that - to make you aware of available treatments which might be worthy of further and more detailed investigation. Readers should note that, whilst there are many individual anecdotal cases and studies over many years that suggest that IPT may be effective, there is at present no collection of scientific data to validate Insulin Potentiation Therapy as a treatment for malignant neoplastic diseases or cancer to the satisfaction of the United States FDA. As always, you should seek the guidance of a professional medical practitioner before taking any medications or undergoing any form of therapy.

By age of 50, most men will already have an enlarged prostate and three of these men will have cancer cells forming in their prostate. Prostate cancer is the main cancer found in men and by age 75 three out of four men will have prostate cancer. The facts are pretty clear, if you are a male you will have to deal with BPH, enlarged prostate, or prostate cancer.
You will find beta-sitosterol in saw palmetto and pygeum africanum, but these herbal plants have very little beta-sitosterol.
So how do you know if you have BPH or prostate cancer? Well, here are a few of the symptoms:

" Sonogram is a safe and accurate way to check your prostate
" MRI, magnetic resonance imaging, is also accurate but is the most expensive test.
There is other tests that doctors like to make and that is,
Biopsy of the prostate - Don't have it done. It's very harmful to the prostate and should never be done. The ideal way to take care of prostate health issues is to change or improve you diet and lifestyle.

Choosing the best asbestos cancer attorney can make the difference between a long drawn out case with limited compensation and a quick recovery and great compensation.
1. Interview at least 3 attorneys
There will be a variance in the percentage each attorney takes from the proceeds. This can vary from 20-50 percent of the compensation.
2. Experience of the attorney
Just because an asbestos lawyer receives a higher percentage of proceeds does not mean they are the most experienced. Find out the number of years they have been practicing and ask for referrals.
3. Accomplishments of the attorney
Have them show you examples of suits they have won, because this will help you decide if they have the experience.
4. Will the attorney you interview be the one to represent you
Some asbestos law firms will have their lead attorney interview and then turn you over to a less experienced associate. In conclusion, use these guidelines and you will save yourself and your family a lot of frustration, time and money. Interview, check experience, check accomplishments and be sure who is representing you.
Not only have I studied litigation but have been through a number of cases and depositions in my own life, with my family and friends.

Alternative Cancer Treatments - Avoiding Sugar with Stevia
For cancer sufferers, regulating the diet, particularly the sugar intake, is of prime importance in controlling the disease. This article looks at the use of Stevia as a calorie-free sugar substitute. As many people now recognise, oxygen is cancer's number one enemy. But an enemy of oxygen in the body is refined sugar, which increases acidosis and thereby eliminates oxygen. Refined sugar is the prime energy source for fuelling cancer cells, and it is found in large quantities throughout the modern diet. So is there any wonder that the incidence of cancer in the western world has multiplied many times throughout the past century!
In today's food industry, the presence of sugar is regularly concealed under its many pseudonyms, such as fructose, cane extract, corn syrup solids and so many other contemporary euphemisms. However it is particularly found in many popular soda type drinks, so heavily promoted and avidly consumed by millions around the world. What about artificial sweeteners like aspartame? Can't they be used instead of sugar? Yes indeed, they are regularly used as a sugar replacement in many diet drinks. I'm sure you know which ones they are. But what you might not be aware of is the long-term toxicity of many such products and the damage and illnesses to which they can lead. Evidence is accumulating and perhaps one day it will be sufficient to have them taken off the market.
However, as an alternative to artificial sweeteners, there is one totally natural sugar-substitute readily available today which stands out above all the rest, and that product simply goes by the name of Stevia. For centuries, the native Americans of Paraguay and Brazil used a species of Stevia, Stevia rebaudiana which they called ka'a he'e (or "sweet herb"), as a sweetener in yerba mate and medicinal teas for treating conditions such as obesity, high blood pressure, and heartburn. Stevia is a herb belonging to the daisy family, possessing zero calories, zero carbohydrates and a zero glycemic index. Fortunately Stevia has recently gained greater attention with the rise in demand for low-carbohydrate, low-sugar food alternatives. It is also now available as a health food supplement in the USA and Europe.
It was not until 1931 that French chemists isolated the glycosides that give Stevia its sweet taste. These extracts were named steviosides and rebaudiosides. These compounds are around 250-300 times sweeter than sucrose (in the form of ordinary table sugar). Stevia's sweet taste has a slower onset but a longer duration than that of sugar. At high concentration it possesses a bitter and liquorice-like after-taste, which varies depending ipon which glycoside is consumed.
As a sweetening agent Stevia has almost zero calories, in contrast to table sugar that possesses 4.5 calories per gram. Stevia does not significantly alter blood glucose, and so is attractive as a sweetener to diabetics and those on carbohydrate controlled diets.
In the early 1970s, the Japanese began cultivating Stevia as an alternative to artificial sweeteners such as cyclamate and saccharin, suspected carcinogens. Stevia sweeteners have been produced commercially in Japan since 1977 and are widely used in food products, soft drinks, and for table use. Japan currently consumes more Stevia than any other country, accounting for about 40% of the sweetener market.
Stevia is also able to perform a number of other beneficial tasks. For example, it has been shown that it may enhance moods and increase energy levels and mental alertness. The cosmetic industry also employs Stevia in many skin care products, where its topical application has been shown to reduce the appearance of skin blemishes. Whether you are a cancer sufferer, a diabetic, or simply want to lose weight painlessly, I highly recommend that you add Stevia to your nutritional regime. It is inexpensive and available through many health stores or via the Internet.

Breast Cancer: Steps To Aid In Early Detection
I learned some interesting facts about breast cancer that I feel every woman should know. The sources I used for this article included the American Cancer Society, The National Cancer Institute, and the Avon Foundation’s Breast Cancer Crusade. Early breast cancer isn’t usually detected by pain. In fact, when breast cancer first develops, there may be no symptoms at all. That is why regular exams are important. If you have anything that makes you suspect breast cancer, contact your doctor immediately. Don't wait around to see what happens. Let the professional decide.
Some symptoms that may indicate breast cancer include, but are not limited to, the following:
Nipple discharge or tenderness
Lumps in breast and/or underarm area
Visual changes which include: size of breast including swelling; inverted nipple; and pitting. Pitting means the skin looks like the skin of an orange. Scaling of the breast skin could also be a symptom. Early detection of breast cancer is important. There is a 97% five-year survival rate when breast cancer is detected early since this can help prevent it from spreading. Below are some guidelines to early detection. I hope they help save someone's life.
Get a Mammogram
A mammogram is a specialized x-ray of the breast to help detect cancers which cannot be detected by feel. Some women are confused as to how often they should get a mammogram. Here is what the professionals say about mammograms. At age 40 begin getting annual mammograms by a licensed technician. A mammogram will take about twenty minutes. When getting a mammogram avoid wearing deodorant, powders, or cream under your arms. Sometimes they can interfere with the results. Make sure to contact the center if they do not inform you of the results within thirty days. It is very important that results are compared from one year to the next. Hence, be sure you know where your mammogram film is being held.
Clinical Breast Exam
This is an exam by a health care professional. Women in their 20s and 30s should have a clinical breast exam at least every three years and women 40 or older should have an exam each year.
Starting at age 20 women should begin doing a self-exam. Ask your doctor if you are not exactly sure how to do this or if you are not sure you are doing it correctly. Here are a few guides to follow: Lie down and place one arm behind your head. Using your three middle finger pads press firmly across your breast in overlapping dime-size circular motions. Use three different levels of pressure: light, medium, and firm. This allows you to feel the tissue close to your skin, to feel a little deeper, and to feel the tissue closest to your chest and ribs.
Move across your breast in an up and down pattern, starting from the underarm and moving across the breast to the middle of the chest bone, repeating the pressure. Stand in front of a mirror with your hands pressing down on your hips and look at your breasts for any changes in size, shape, contour, or dimpling. Also, do this with your arms slightly raised. Make sure you check under your breasts as well. I hope that this information proves helpful to you. I am not a health care provider and by no means a professional on breast cancer. I am simply sharing with every woman possible the importance of detecting breast cancer early and some simple guidelines that might save a life.

“Caring about others, running the risk of feeling, and leaving an impact on people, brings happiness.” Rabbi Harold Kushner
As a cancer survivor, and in speaking to audiences worldwide, people often ask me, “How did you get into the speaking business? And, “Tell me about your cancer.” The answer is simple. On May 2, 1991, I experienced a wake-up call that would forever change my life. I was diagnosed with stage zero colon cancer. And it doesn't run in my family. The good news is that through life-altering experiences such as these, we’re often forced to find our passion and fulfill our fate. Here’s my story as a cancer survivor, what it taught me and what you can learn from it.
My life in Redondo Beach, California in 1991 was wonderful. Living in an ocean view town home blocks from the beach, and with a job I enjoyed, there was much reason to feel grateful. In addition, my many friends and I had just celebrated my 31st birthday in late March of that same year. One month later we were all skiing at Mammoth Mountain in California. Having just completed my final ski run of the day, I was feeling happy, alive and energized. It was nearing sunset. Clouds in pink, purple and orange hues filled the sky. The scent of the green pine trees and crisp mountain air was exhilarating.
Two days later, I was sitting in front of the doctor when he said to me, “Unfortunately, Colleen, you’ve got colon cancer.” My whole body went numb. I told him that since I was handling it well and wasn’t in tears, I must be in shock. He winced with empathy, and said, “I think you are.” The good news is my colon cancer was stage zero so I never had any chemo or radiation. I was one of the lucky ones.
Having said that, I recently spoke for the 4th annual dinner of a colon cancer survivors’ group and was shocked at how many patients were under the age of 40. They were not the relatives of cancer patients but the actual patients themselves. At that dinner, I asked both the patients and their families to write down what they had learned from a colon cancer diagnosis.
Here are some of the things they shared:
“My wife is a cancer survivor, and I am now deeply aware of how the birds sing and the flowers bloom.”
“I have become closer to God. I use my experience to talk to youth. My skies are bluer and my flowers more colorful. I see more to life than others. I have better relationships with others I meet.”
“Life is too special and sometimes too short to worry about the small stuff. We need to have a passion for life. Working in oncology and having a cancer survivor mother to share my life with is truly a blessing! This disease is preventable! Get screened and get treatment if necessary!”
“I got a colonoscopy and had polyps in my late 20’s. I now know that I am not indestructible.”
“After being diagnosed with colon cancer at age 38, I learned to put myself, my husband and my children ahead of any other obligations. It made me look for God’s purpose in my life.”
“As the wife of a cancer survivor I find that my sense of what life is all about has changed. My treatment of others (my husband, children, and other people in my life) has become more loving.”
“I appreciate life much more and am thankful for each day. I look forward to what life has in store for me."
“Increased awareness of life’s potential to change suddenly. I’m reconnected with family members not seen for a long time. As a colon cancer survivor, it caused my family members to all get a colonoscopy.”
”I am a cancer survivor. I am now so very very happy and singing praises and helping others. Smile, smile, smile!"
As a cancer survivor, I can tell you that the things that we think are so pressing and urgent often aren’t. It’s about family, friends, appreciating nature, taking risks and helping others. I hope you will not have to experience a wake-up call in order to find your passion and fulfill your fate. Learn from the experiences of others. March is colon cancer awareness month. Please get screened. Don’t die of embarrassment. It could save your life.

When I went shopping the other day at the local store, I was taken in by the hair coloring of the clerk. It was beautiful , with a dark base and a natural -looking streaks, just as if the sun touched only her alone. I told her this and we promptly struck a conversation which largely centers on our younger days when we rarely use hair dyes. All we do then was spray SunIn on our hair and stay out in the sun for an hour or at most two. The dialogue inevitably shifted to how that practice is practically impossible now, thanks to the depletion of the ozone layer to such an extent that there is virtually no screen between the earth and the harsh and sometimes fatal rays of the sun.
For the trial, insulin combined with the chemotherapy drug methotrexate in low-dose form resulted in significantly stabilising the disease, with reduced progressions, as compared with insulin or low-dose methotrexate alone. Other studies have been worldwide, although informal. In fact, although little known, IPT has been in use for approaching seventy years.
I know am boring you stiff with unnecessary tales, as this should be a platform for information about skin cancer. But the little narration does hold some evidence against chemicals in health and beauty products, and it certainly describes the lethal effect of the sun rays as a potential cause of our subject. But since none of us are trained medical practioners, experts or specialists, our information on the forms of skin cancer will be restricted to the bare essentials.
Basically, only three forms of skin cancer are known :
Basal Cell Carcinoma, which is also known as non-melanoma skin cancer, Squamous Cell Carcinoma, and Melanoma. Cancerous cells known as melanoma grow in the melanocytes, which are the cells that are responsible for skin pigmentation. The University of Maryland and other reputable experts rates melanoma as the rarest and the most virulent of all forms of skin cancer. People with fair skin, light hair, and light eyes have an appreciable amount of these cells, though it can be present in people with other complexions too.
Indeed experts asserted that folks with dark brown and black skin are not exempted. The clear symptoms to look out for include a mole changing color, its size, shape or state-- if it starts bleeding, or moles that are either itchy, hard, lumpy, swollen or tender when touched. The onset of Squamous cell carcinoma commonly starts as a scaly patch of skin that appears to be red. they can also be in form of nodules. Amongst the three forms of skin cancer, Squamous, which affects Caucasians is the second most popular and appears either on the ear rims, face, lips or mouths.
Basal Cell Carcinoma is another form of skin cancer and usually begins as a small fleshy nodule, and it frequently appear on the head, neck, or hands. Basal cell carcinoma which also typically affects Caucasians, is the most virulent form in the U.S amongst the three forms of skin cancer. It is estimated that it accounts for 90% of the victims.
My mother had the bad fortune of having the second of the most common form of skin cancer right on her lip. Initially she was teased that it was herpes. But she figured out quickly that it was what is known as a sun blister, and she was even faster in consulting with a specialist. That surely is cheerful news, which will give you hope as you wail the days lost picnicking, swimming, and bathing under the sun.
Cancer Society Estimates - For me, I've already decided that if I ever do get cancer, I will not seek out the conventional medical cancer interventions and treatments that are the society standard today.
Cancer Survivor - The good news is that through life-altering experiences such as these, we’re often forced to find our passion and fulfill our fate.
Colon Cancer Testing - Skin Cancer is one of the most common cancers. Approximately one in six people will develop skin cancer. Medical experts unanimously agree that overexposure to sunlight is the main culprit.
Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis - Arthritis is an inflammation of the joints. Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic disease that can result in stiff joints that are deformed with loss of movement. This condition can affect anyone, any age, at any joint.
Latest Arthritis Remedy - Arthritis is derived from the Greek words for joint and inflammation. It is not a single ailment, but a group of conditions. All types of arthritis generally involve pain that is generally worse in the morning and while initiating movement.
Effective Bedwetting Solutions - Finding bed wetting solutions is something that parents spend a lot of time looking for when they have an older child with a bedwetting problem. There are many products on the market that offer relief in keeping the child dry at night, but these are not really solutions that will cure the bed wetting forever.
Developing Ovarian Cancer - It has been scientifically proven that green tea provides us with numerous health benefits. Just recently it has been claimed that green tea helps to fight and prevent breast cancer and this is being researched at the present time.
American Cancer Society - Consuming two or more cups of tea a day over a period of time may reduce the risk of ovarian cancer dramatically, suggests a new study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine.
Health Care Provider - The symptoms of fatigue and joint pain, are associated with a great deal of illnesses and diseases, ranging from the common flu to serious autoimmune diseases like lupus or thyroid disorders.
