8 Ways to Prevent Breast Cancer

Here are eight ways to help you prevent breast cancer. They are supported with many researches and studies. You should embark them all if possible.

Breast Cancer

Women should focus on keeping breast health through good lifestyle and dietary choices.

1. You should be more active. A recent Norwegian study discovered that women who exercised on a regular basis cut their breast cancer risk by 72 percent.

2. You should eat more unrefined seed foods. They all contain phytoestrogens. If you eat foods rich in these elements, you are 4 times less likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer. You should consume whole grains, beans, nuts, edible seeds, fruits and vegetables with their seeds.

3. You should eat less vegetable oil and increase the consumption of animal fat and dairy products. Consume yogurt, cheese, milk, butter, and olive oil on a daily basis, and eat meat from time to time.

4. You should eat less tofu and soy beverage. The isoflavone found in soy causes breast cancer cells to grow rapidly. On the other hand, eat more miso and tamari. Studies have found that they are very effective in preventing cancer.

5. You should eat foods rich in antioxidants. At the same time, avoid supplements of vitamins E and C. It was discovered that supplements increase breast cancer risk. Eat five to seven servings of dark green and bright red/orange foods every day.

6. You should sleep in the dark. Recent studies found out that exposure to light at night increases the risk of breast cancer by at least 36 percent.

7. You should drink red clover blossom infusion. Drink a quart of red clover infusion every week.

8. You should eat seaweed as a vegetable. Consume at least a half-cup serving per week. Wakame, kombu, kelp, and alaria are very effective.

If you follow these eight tips you will greatly increase your chances of preventing breast cancer.

Bone Cancer

Cancer of the bone or bone cancer is a general term used when cancer cells are seen in the bone. Cancer that begins in the bone is called primary bone cancer. It is found most often in the arms and legs but it can occur in any bone in the body. Children and young people are more likely than adults to have bone cancers.

Primary bone cancers are called sarcomas. There are several different types of sarcoma and each type begins in a different kind of bone tissue. The most common sarcomas are osteosarcoma, Ewing's sarcoma, and chondrosarcoma. In young people, the most common type of bone cancer is osteosarcoma, usually occurring between the ages of ten and twenty-five. More often, males are affected than females. Osteosarcoma frequently starts in the ends of the bones; where new bone tissue forms as a young person grows, usually affecting the long bones of the arms and legs.

Ewing's sarcoma usually affects teenagers, and is mostly found in people between ten and twenty-five years old. This cancer forms in the middle part (shaft) of large bones and most often affects the hip bones and long bones in the thigh and upper arm, but can also occur in the ribs. Chondrosarcoma is a type of tumor that forms in the cartilage (rubbery tissue around the joints) and are found mainly in adults. Other types of bone cancer include fibrosarcoma (malignant giant cell tumor) and chordoma. These are rare cancers and most often affects people over thirty.

Treatment for some bone tumors may involve surgery, such as limb amputation. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy are effective in some tumors (such as Ewing's sarcoma) but less so in others (such as chondrosarcoma). After treatment has been done for bone cancer, it is very important that regular follow-up or check-ups are done with your doctor, to be sure that cancer has not come back and treat it promptly if it does. Check-ups may be physical exam, x-rays, scans, blood tests, and other laboratory tests.

People who have been diagnosed of bone cancer may have many physical, emotional, practical worries. They may worry that removal of a limb or other surgery will affect not only how they look but how other people would feel about them. Patients can be helped to overcome all these through special support groups for youngsters with cancer and their families. The American Cancer Society, for example, is a nonprofit organization that has many services for patients and their familes. For More Information Visit Top Women's Health

Colon Cancer

Globally, colorectal cancer also named colon cancer or bowel cancer is the third leading cause of cancer. The regularity of colorectal cancer varies around the world; it is common in the Western world and rare in Asia and Africa. In countries where people have adopted the western diets has an mounting incidence of colon cancer. Cancer is a class of diseases or disorders characterized by uncontrolled division of cells and the ability of these cells to occupy other tissues, either by growth to adjacent tissue through invasion or by implantation into distant sites by metastasis (spread of cancer from its primary sites to other places). Metastasis is distinct as the stage in which cancer cells are run through the bloodstream or lymphatic system.

The most common symptom of bone cancer is pain. However, symptoms may vary depending on the location and size of the cancer. Sometimes firm, slightly tender lump on the bone can be felt through the skin. Sometimes bone cancer interferes with normal movements and can also weaken or cause bones to break. Tumors that occur in or near joints may cause swelling and tenderness in the affected area. Other symptoms may include fatigue, fever, weight loss, and anemia. It is important to check with a doctor when you experience these symptoms, but these symptoms can also be caused by other less serious conditions.

The colon also known as the hefty bowel is the highest portion of the large intestine. The large intestine is the last element of the digestive tract, which is a tube that is in relation to five to six feet in length; the first five feet structure the colon which then connects to about six inches of rectum, and finally tops with the anus. About three to eight hours after eating, by the time the food reaches the colon, the nutrients have been immersed and the remainder is liquid waste result.

The colon functions as a converter, altering this liquid waste into stool. The stool can expend anywhere from ten hours to several days in the colon before being barred through the anus. It has been advised but not proven, that the longer the stool remains in the colon, the higher the risk of colon cancer. Colon cancer includes cancerous growths in the colon, rectum and appendix. Many colon cancers are reflected to arise from adenomatous polyps in the colon. These mushroom-like growths are habitually benign, but some may extend into cancer over time. This progression can take years which allow time for early detection with screening tests.

The risk of this disease increases with age, although it may affect people at all ages. There are many types of cancer, but the harshness of symptoms may differ and depend on the site and character of the growth and if whether or not there is metastasis. To diagnose the disease regularly requires the examination of tissue by a pathologist. The tissue is obtained by biopsy or surgery. Depending on the specific type, location and stage of a cancer, most can generally be treated.

Symptoms Symptoms of colon cancer are abundant and non-specific. They consist of fatigue, weakness, shortness of breath, change in bowel habits, narrow stools, diarrhea or constipation, red or dark blood in stool, weight loss, abdominal pain, cramps, or bloating. Other conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome (spastic colon), ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, diverticulosis, and peptic ulcer disease can have symptoms that impersonate colorectal cancer. Most often, these symptoms are not due to cancer, other problems can cause the same symptoms, so checking with your doctor should be done promptly to be diagnosed and treated as early as feasible.

The risk of colon cancer rises significantly after the age of fifty, but every year there are numerous cases reported in younger people. Individuals with a personal or family history of colon cancer, polyps, or hereditary colon cancer syndromes (i.e., FAP and HNPCC), as well as patients with ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease, are all at elevated risk and may require screening at an earlier age than the general population. A person with one first degree relative (parent, sibling or child) with colon cancer is two to three times as likely to contact the cancer as someone who does not have an affected relative.

The treatment depends on the staging of the cancer. When colon cancer is caught at early stages (with little spread) it can be curable. However when it is detected at later stages (when distant metastases are present) it is less likely to be curable. Surgery remains the primary treatment while chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy may be recommended depending on the individual patient's staging and other medical factors.

Once a person is diagnosed of the disease, treatments would generally be a permutation of surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. With modern research and developments, treatments of the disease are fetching more specific for the type of cancer pathology. There are now a lot of drugs that mark specific cancers. If this disease is untreated, it may in due course cause illness and death, though it is not for all time the case.

How Can You Tell if You Have Breast Cancer?

There are some signs that may tell you if you have breast cancer. Breast cancer is formed when normal cells divide and multiple in uncontrollable fashion. This causes the development of extra cells which further lump together and create a tumor. Some physical changes may appear in the breast and its surrounding area such as presence of lumps that does not go away, inversion of the nipple, discharge from the breast, and changes to the skin color which overlies the breast.

Bear in mind that most lumps that are found in the breast are not always cancerous. However, you should consult with a doctor to have them checked. Discharge from the breast is also a common problem in women, which does not necessarily lead to a cancer disease. Changes in nipple, which makes it pointing inward, are often temporary and considered normal in some women. Nevertheless, if those conditions become permanent then it should be discussed with your doctor.

Symptoms of breast cancer vary depending on the stage it is in. There is usually no obvious pain or any signs in the early stage of breast cancer. The development of breast cancer can take from a period of months or years. Once the disease is detected, treatment has to be given immediately to avoid the spread of the cancer to other parts of the body, which is known as metastastic spread.

A simple way to check breast cancer is through breast exam. It involves touching and feeling around the breast and under the arms to find any lumps or other abnormalities. The exam is usually conducted by a female doctor. Another common test for signs for breast cancer is called mammography exam. A mammogram is an x-ray of the breast that will show any abnormal growth of tissues. Breast cancer is one of the lethal diseases for women of all ages. There are several factor risks that can increase the chance of having the disease. Study has shown that women in the age group above 50 are more likely to have breast cancer than that of below 30.

Menstrual cycle also partly contributes to the risk for breast cancer. The risk is getting bigger for women who have early menstrual and late menopause. Breast cancer is also more frequently developed in spinsters and married woman that have not given birth to children or those who have given birth but then have not breast fed their offspring. Some other factors include diet, radiation from the environment, genetics, and lifestyle.
