There are currently several clinical trials going on in the United States. The National Data Bank for Rheumatic Diseases is a world-renowned, non-profit, independent research group. Its mission is to improve rheumatic disorder outcomes and care by providing research information to doctors and to people with arthritis, fibromyalgia, lupus, or other related problems. The NDB has published numerous articles in reputable medical journals.
Every six months more than 10,000 people contribute to this important research by volunteering approximately an hour of their time to answer questions about their condition and how it affects their lives. This is done online or by completing paper questionnaires that they send in the mail.
If you decide to participate in the NDB you'll be making an important contribution to the future of arthritis treatment.
What to Do If You Wish to Participate in the NDB Study
1.Visit the NDB enrollment page: . You'll be asked to provide consent to participate in the research. 2.After consenting, you'll begin the enrollment forms. They will ask for your contact information, your doctor's contact information, and other ways they can reach you if necessary. They may need to contact your doctor to confirm your diagnosis. 3.Then you'll move on to four pages of questions about your condition, which medications you are taking and have taken in the past, and your general state of health. 4.That's it. You're almost done. Look in your email for confirmation of your enrollment. 5.Once you have completed the enrollment form, you are now ready to join in the on-going research. They will contact you every 6 months in January and July with an email link to an online questionnaire. Depending on when you signed up, it may be a few months before you receive your first email with the online questionnaire link.

Rheumatoid Arthritis And Medications
There is an array of prescription arthritis medications which health professionals can provide to help with rheumatoid arthritis. While these arthritis medications may not cure, they can bring pain relief, alleviate symptoms, and even slow the progression of rheumatoid arthritis.
These drugs may be pressed into service as an arthritis medicine and may be obtained over the counter and as a prescription. (Most everyone is familiar with aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen sodium.) The only down side to these arthritis medications is they can lead to stomach problems, such as indigestion and bleeding. They can also raise an individual's blood pressure and cause susceptibility to fluid retention.

In fact, quite a few arthritis patients who take corticosteroids report they feel significantly better. However, after a time the effectiveness of corticosteroids may wear off. There is also the risk of acquiring significant side effects such as diabetes, weight gain, and decreased bone density, after long-time use of corticosteroids.

Polyarticular Juvenile Arthritis is a type of arthritis that affects children between twelve and sixteen years of age. The joints affected are usually evenly distributed between the right and left sides of the body.For instance if the right foot is affected, the left foot is typically also affected. A few children with polyarticular juvenile arthritis may have the rheumatoid factor in their blood (RH) which means the disease can manifest as rheumatoid arthritis later in life, but fortunately most will grow out of it.Systemic Juvenile Arthritis is a more serious form of the disease and it is this form that is most likely to continue into adulthood.Children with systemic juvenile arthritis can have several joints that are swollen and painful. There may also be a fever which lasts about two weeks. The fever is usually worse in the afternoon and evenings. Systemic juvenile arthritis accounts for about 20% of juvenile arthritis sufferers.
Children with systemic juvenile arthritis may also have a pink rash that appears on the thighs and lower body.Systemic juvenile arthritis can also affect the lymph system and internal organs, such as the heart and liver. On the other hand, few children with the systemic form carry the RH factor which can develop into rheumatoid arthritis.
