Mold Spores - Allergies are prevalent these days, not only in children but in adults as well. In fact, according to the FAAN (Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network) the prevalence of allergic reactions to peanuts has doubled over a period of five years.
As more and more people take responsibility for their lives by taking an active interest in helping resolve their issues the list of ailments that self hypnosis can affect in a positive way increases.
Indeed, the BBC's own health web-site has recently ran an article entitled "Hypnosis could banish hay fever". The article describes how teaching hay fever sufferers the art of self hypnosis can help them to alleviate their symptoms such as itchy red eyes, runny nose and as a result the amount of anti-allergic medication may be reduced.
Click here for more details of the hypnosis hay fever research study
There is no doubt that hay fever sufferers would welcome even a small percentage reduction in the symptoms they suffer from. More research with larger study groups would help support the case for the use and effectiveness of self hypnosis for hay fever and many other ailments.

5 Allergies Potentially Far More Serious Than Mild Seasonal Annoyance
Allergies can range from a mild seasonal annoyance to a life threatening condition. There are a number of different types of allergies that affect millions of people. Some of the most common types of allergies are food allergies. The reactions to food allergies can range in severity. Some individuals experience an upset stomach or mild headache when they eat certain kinds of foods. Other people, however; have very serious reactions that can be life threatening.
In very serious reactions, the individual may go into shock and experience a rapid drop in blood pressure.
Of the food allergy categories, shellfish and peanut allergies are quite common and can very serious, even leading to death. Many of the signs and symptoms related to food allergies include rashes, itching, nasal congestion, diarrhea, nausea, dizziness, swelling of the lips, tongue and/or throat. The airway may also begin to constrict, making it difficult for the person to breath. At this point, the allergic reaction becomes life threatening and emergency medical help should be sought immediately.
In many cases, food allergies can be caused due to a genetic family history. Many children experience food allergies in their younger years but then eventually grow out of the condition as they mature.
Some individuals also suffer from various types of drug allergies. These types of allergies most commonly include reactions to the drug known as penicillin; however other types of drugs may also cause reactions. Sulfa drugs, anesthesia and insulin also cause allergic reactions in a number of people. It is very important to let anyone treating you know if you suffer from any type of drug allergy. Many people who suffer from drug reactions and allergies also find it beneficial to carry some kind of identifying information with them to denote the allergy in the event of an accident.
While no one reacts well to an inset sting or bite, in some people the situation can become life threatening. These individuals usually begin to experience what is known as anaphylaxis when stung or bitten. Anaphylaxis is an extremely serious medical condition in which the airway becomes constricted and the person is at risk for dying if medical help is not sought immediately.
Other common symptoms related to impending anaphylaxis include swelling of the face and shock. Severe allergic reactions are usually associated with bites and stings from wasps, bees, hornets and yellow jackets.
Allergic reactions to latex are a problem that is not well known by many people but that can be extremely serious. Individuals can come into contact with latex in a number of ways and environments; both at home and at work. It is commonly found in many types of rubber as well as shoes, balloons, gloves, condoms and rubber bands.
The reaction related to latex exposure in a person with this type of allergy can range from mild to severe. As with all other allergic reactions, it can become life threatening if anaphylaxis occurs. Individuals who suffer from latex allergies develop it because they have been around and exposed to latex significantly at some point in their lives.
Considering that thousands of products contain latex, it may be difficult to pinpoint when and where this occurred. Some people develop the problem if they have frequent surgeries because of the fact that most surgical gloves are made from latex. If you suffer from a latex allergy it is imperative that you inform your doctor if you are scheduled for surgery. Exposure to latex during a surgery can be quite serious, even life threatening. Alternate measures can be used if you inform the medical staff.
Individuals who have life threatening allergies, such as some food allergies and allergies related to insect stings and bites may be advised by their doctor to carry a special medical kit with them at all times. This kit usually contains an antidote known as epinephrine and is commonly used as an =injectable. While the epinephrine will work as antidote, medical attention should still be sought immediately. Dust mite allergies affect many people who do not even realize that the symptoms they experience are related to an allergy. Dust mites are small organisms that prefer to inhabit areas that are dark and warm. They are completely invisible to the naked eye.
Most homes have dust mites. The problem arises when someone is either allergic to dust mites or has asthma. Medical professionals recommend that you eliminate the warm and humid environments in your home where dust mites thrive. They are particularly fond of pillows, mattresses, carpet and upholstery. Eliminating these areas in your home as much as possible can help to reduce the dust mite population and the possibility of allergic reactions.
Hay fever is an extremely common allergy related ailment. In some individuals the symptoms, including sneezing and watery, itchy eyes, appear all year while other people only recognize the symptoms during certain seasons of the year. Most people who experience hay fever at isolated times of the year, such as the spring or fall, are actually allergic to pollen.
Persons who have problems with hay fever all year are more than likely allergic to something inside their home. This might include dust mites as mentioned above or pet dander. There are a number of over the counter and prescription medications that can help reduce the symptoms of both seasonal and year round hay fever.
A small number of people are allergic to mold and the symptoms can be quite distressful. Black mold is a situation that has recently come to light and the results of being exposed to black mold have proven to be quite severe.
While not all molds are black, if you suspect that your home or office has mold of any type, it is well worth it to have a trained professional investigate the situation. Reducing the humidity in your home or office is an affective way of controlling all kinds of mold, as well as using a disinfectant regularly and keeping the air circulating. A medical professional can determine if you suffer from any of the above mentioned allergies by performing blood work. Today it is possible to isolate numerous different types of food allergies as well as dust, mold, pollen and pet dander allergies. YEAST DESENSITIZATION: -
"When you take antibiotics, especially if you take them repeatedly, many of the friendly germs in your body (especially those in your digestive tract) are 'wiped out.' Since yeasts aren't harmed by these antibiotics, they spread out and raise large families (the medical term is 'colonization'). When yeasts multiply, they put out toxins which circulate through; your body, weaken your defenders and make you sick.
YEAST OVERGROWTH WEAKENS YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM.
Yet, it is only one of many factors. So do 'environmental chemicals'. Included among these are home, industrial and farm chemicals and poisons, tobacco, lead, cadmium, mercury and many others. 'Food and inhalant allergies', or a heavy load of 'environmental molds', also adversely affect your immune system. Emotional stress or deprivation may also weaken your immune system." (2)
We have already mentioned the importance of the food additives and other ways man has found to make his life less wholesome in the pursuit of materialistic efficiency. The matter of yeast was also mentioned in respect of my own life's major medical problem. It really amazed me to find that the yellow dye in the vitamins that a doctor had told me to take (a specific brand rather than a naturally derived Vitamin C with no additives) could cause me to develop a raging allergy. It was just as surprising to find a Dr. by the name of Moores, in Indianapolis was able to almost cure me of difficulty in taking yellow dye #5 or tartrezine. It is a common additive in many things that doesn't even have to be listed on labels. The same is true with many other harmful additives that people are allergic to. The treatment wasn't easy and involved avoiding yeast completely for the first month or so. Gradually I was able to return to eating yeast by the end of six months and after a total of three 'booster' shots. He said it cured 80% of ALL allergies!
THAT would surprise anyone! But to think when I went to the top Canadian clinic to get a booster shot they knew nothing of this treatment that would help 80% of their patients -THAT IS surprising - or should I use a word like disgusting? It has been almost 20 years and I've had no serious allergic reaction and can drink pop with yellow dye and only feel flushed. To think I nearly had to have my throat cut open due to huge hives and now the problem is gone, makes me especially thankful to Dr. Moores. But it seems the industry that benefits from the pain and suffering of people driven to allergic reactions is keeping this treatment under wraps because I don't find it mentioned in the expert book just quoted. Dr. Crook has many books on the subject or allergies and he seems a fair person. Perhaps the politics of the profession are explained in the next quote. Who CARES?! Why not help the people with this treatment?
"Allergists resemble people who belong to opposing political parties or who are members of the various religious denominations (Biblio. An 8-page review of the food allergy controversy is presented in the Medical News section of the August 12, 1983 issue of the 'Journal of The American Medical Association' 250:701-711, 1983). Although most allergists test and treat their patients with allergy extracts, their methods differ considerably." (3)
This is not just another billion dollar boondoggle. It impacts people and the quality of their lives in torturous ways. Beyond the issue of allergic reactions and additives that cause hives or bodily immune responses there is a whole area of environmental medicine that causes cells to enlarge when histamines generated in response to foreign agents act to inflate the size of the cells. It is highly likely this causes distress and mental impacts of a major variety that minimize the potential of an optimum machine that the human body and all its attendant energy bodies, including the soul, can be or achieve.

Spring is in the air and so are the allergens. Over the next few months grasses, trees and weeds will release huge quantities of pollen into the air as part of their reproductive cycle. For those suffering from allergic asthma or seasonal allergies it is a time when symptoms worsen, eyes water and noses run.
The most common advice given to those allergic to pollen is to remain indoors when pollen release occurs. However this happens at different times for different plants. On warm and sunny days most grasses release pollen from early morning onwards. On damp mornings the release will be delayed until the ground moisture evaporates. Some species of grass release their pollen in the afternoon, so if you are allergic to several types you may not get a window of avoidance at any time of day.
Even with an allergy to only one type of pollen, it can affect you despite your efforts to avoid the time and area where pollen release occurs. As the day draws to a close cooling pollen-carrying air falls towards the ground. This can lead to sufferers experiencing problems during the night. Wind-blown pollen can travel great distances. Ragweed can spread so far that it has even been detected 400 miles out to sea.
If you can identify the pollen that triggers your symptoms you can try to plan your day accordingly. You can get a clue from the time of year that you experience problems. Tree pollen is usually released in the spring, grass pollen in late spring and early summer, and weed pollens in late summer into autumn. A doctor can organise tests to further narrow down the culprit. Having identified the offending pollen try to remain indoors when it is being released.
Try to keep track of the pollen count in your area. Remember the pollen count is usually taken the day before it is broadcast. Rain or cool weather can reduce the count. Hot weather or short thunderstorms can increase it. Plants tend to retain their pollen on cloudy days, so expect a higher than average release on the next sunny day.
The National Allergy Bureau pollen report gives information on conditions in the US and Canada at www.aaaai.org/nab/index.cfm?p=pollen
Polleninfo gives pollen forecasts for across Europe at www.polleninfo.org
You can use over the counter (OTC) medication to relieve symptoms if it does not interfere with other medications. Consult your doctor to make sure there will be no adverse affects.Although pollen is probably the most difficult allergen to avoid there are steps you can take to minimize your exposure.
1. If possible only work outside at times when the pollen count is low. The mornings of cooler, less sunny days are best.
2. Introduce more insect-pollinated plants (usually the more attractive, colorful ones) into your garden, as their heavier pollen is less likely to become airborne. If you can identify the plant that affects you, exclude that plant from your garden. If grass pollen affects you but do not want to lose your lawn, get someone else to keep the grass short.
3. Keep windows shut tight at times of pollen release, during high pollen counts, and in the early hours of the night when airborne pollen returns to ground level.
4. Dry all washing indoors to prevent pollen gathering on clothes and bedding. Ideally dry clothes in a tumble-dryer.
5. If you spend a prolonged period outside when the pollen count is high, you should ideally take a shower and wash your hair when you get in, especially if it is thick or long. At least try to rinse your hair to get rid of any pollen.
6. Keep a set of clothes that you only wear indoors. Clothes worn outside could be full of pollen. Avoid taking your outdoor clothes into the bedroom.
Perhaps the most effective solution is to leave the area. If circumstances permit, move nearer the equator for a while. The plants that affect you will have finished pollinating. Alternatively move to a high mountainous area or a windy seacoast.

It's springtime and you want to get outside to enjoy the warmer weather. One problem - the things which make it spring, the warm weather, the blooming trees and flowers and grasses, mean seasonal allergies for you.
Over a period of 2 years the group that were using self hypnosis for their hay fever tested well to reduction in nasal mucus flow and needed to use less eye drop medication. The trial was too small however to be statistically significant.
After reading this article You'll be armed with information so You can decide what's best for solving Your allergy problems.
Beyond the obvious of minimizing dust and other allergens in Your house, You can use a process of elimination to determine if some foods may be causing allergic reactions. Common foods to steer clear of are homogenized, pasteurized dairy, Shellfish, highly processed white flour and wheat products. Washing fruits and vegetables with a cleansing solution to remove pesticides and chemicals can be found at a health food store. You may even need to visit an allergist who can do Allergy testing for You if You're having trouble identifying the source of Your specific allergies. Here are specific supplements which are proven to help Your body fight allergies.
Schizandra - 90 mg 3-4 times a day
Omega-3 Fatty acid fish oil gel caps - 500 mg 3-4 times a day
Vitamins A - at least 5,000 IU a day which is 100% of the daily vitamin A Your body needs. (For some reason vitamin A is always given in IU which is International Units. There is no good conversion to milligrams because IU's are dependant on the potency of the substance).
Vitamin C - 500 mg 3-4 times a day. Vitamins A and C are powerful antioxidants which can help Your itchy watery eyes. (These are what I take, You'll have to gauge what's best for Your body). And - Quercetin (inhibits histamine) 1 gram twice a day. These always work best in combination.
Here is a specific combination which research has found very effective in helping Your body fight allergies. This research is based on a study from 1952 that proved the effectiveness of a specific supplement combination: the amino acid L-tyrosine and two of the B-vitamins, niacinamide (B3) and pyridoxine (B6). The three work on allergy symptoms only when taken in combination.
The recommended daily dose is as follows:
800-2,400 milligrams of L-tyrosine.
10-30 milligrams of Vitamin B6
40-120 milligrams of Vitamin B3 Vitamins B6 and B3 are usually found together in a good natural multi-vitamin, so they are pretty easy and convenient to take.
You will need to split this up evenly into 3-4 doses throughout the day. All 3 of these can easily be found at health food stores who more than likely will have someone who is knowledgeable on supplements and nutrition. You can also work with a Doctor or other specialist who knows supplements and nutrition as well.
Help for sniffling and sneezing:
Also available at health food stores are nasal sprays which contain a simple sugar called xylitol. Xylitol helps by prevent- ing pollen and other allergens from sticking to nasal membranes and causing allergic reactions. These nasal sprays also help the nasal passages to naturally drain and clear themselves so You can breath more easily.
And finally …
If you're not that excited about individual supplements And how much to take, there are ready made natural Formulations that combine the best supplements to solve The root causes of Your allergies. Prescriptions and over the counter drugs simply suppress histamine and don't help Your body to solve the root causes of allergies.
Each of the following fills a specific niche in the fight against allergies and You will need to research which is best for Your specific type of allergy. In general all of these will help Your body to naturally reduce histamine production, reduce swelling and improve respiratory and immune system functions. So this way Your body can fight allergic reactions more effectively.
